SONAS and Mark Zowie join the family with the delightful ‘Accordance’. Zoo Brazil and Jamie Stevens add their unique visions on remix duties. 

Live performer, DJ and producer John Ricketts began the SONAS alias in 2019 which combines elements of ambient electronica and dance floor sounds to create a warm, inviting amalgam; part delicate pads and petty arps, part punchy techno low end grunt. His ‘emotional and reflective’ take has already seen him sign with DRUM and Play This!. Teaming up with John, is long time friend Mark Zowie. Mark has had a glittering career in the music industry as Lil Devious, Burn The Negative, We Take Polaroids and Novablood and has music signed to a bewildering array of labels including Defected, Southern Fried and Under No Illusion. We are honoured to have them. 

In original form, ‘Accordance’ is a delicate song-based club-orientated single. Opening with sparse percussion and a dirty reese bass, Mark’s thought-provoking vocals take centre stage. After a brief break (watch the floor freak out as it reaches climax!) the final section powers forward with orchestral pads, delicate arps and an ear worm vocal. This is end of the night territory! 

Given such a huge original, we have enlisted two big guns for their incredible remix work. Jaime has been on the label before so it was a no brainer to ask him back and his remix really draws out the potential the melodics which underpinning it with a solid low end. Zoo Brazil also delivers, opting to strip the track back for a dubbier, nuanced vibe.

Ben Summers joins the family with two incredible breaks tracks, ably assisted on remix duties by man of the moment, Lee Jordan. 

With the best part of three decades at the peak of his powers, to say Ben Summers is a bit of a catch for us is the understatement of the year! As NameSpace (with Ben Shaw), the dynamic duo burst on to the scene back in 2011 and quickly found success with a string of releases. Now returning to the studio after a long hiatus, Ben is as passionate and fired up as he’s ever been. From releases on Nighcolors, Pro B Tech and Stripped, to support from Sasha, Gai Barone and Pete Tong, he resonates everything it is to be an underground dance superstar. 

Ben’s original’s see him dip into uncharted waters with consummate ease. ‘Haunted’ is an epic, floaty downtempo nugget that radiates positivity and joy. A perfect summer ode that jtouches you emotionally. ‘Not Like You’ is a big vocal treat. Deeply satisfying and infectiously catchy, you’ll be humming the melody for weeks. On remix duties, Lee Jordan drops a trademark tough groove. Understated and gnarly, when the bass hits you’ll never be the same again!

Ben Summers - Haunted (Extended Mix)

This is a large portion of my 12 hour set at Stereo Montreal on September 28, 2024, my longest solo set ever. Missing are the first 2 hours, which I cut for better overall flow, as well as the last hour, which was not recorded as my recorder ran out of battery power.

To me, Stereo represents the absolute top of electronic music clubs worldwide. It is one of the few places that gives DJs the canvas to play long sets under near optimal conditions - an amazing sound system, great monitors, beautiful and subtle lighting and - last but not least - a knowledgeable, demanding and unified crowd.

Bio:

Music nerds like Real Gone Kid are a strange breed. Whether it's the internet, dusty music stores or even their girlfriend's parents music collections, they're always searching. Never content with their own vast stockpile, much of which they rarely play, the music nerd is as much at home in a noisy nightclub as they are in quiet contemplation with headphones on, staring at the mid-week rain through their bedroom windows.

Like many of his age, dance music’s arrival was the wake-up call he needed; Thatcher’s Britain was a desperate place and rave music provided a release. Over time his love for all forms of music began to take shape, and he decided to learn to DJ and make his own tracks. With some success, he DJed all over the country; recently going international. His tracks are now also finding themselves in the boxes of some of the major players in the underground scene.
