Composed in 2010-11, "De l'Âme" is a work for a capella choir in eight pars, based on the short, but moving prayer repeated by St Gregory Palamas 
Text in Greek: 
"Fotison mou to skotos, Kyrie"  which means "Enlighten my darkness, Lord ” or “Enlighten the darkness - inside of me”.

The piece, one of the eight Soundscapes Compositions was commissioned by Onassis-Stegi as part of the Interfaces Project, co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.

Virgules is a work strongly linked to the concept of breath, translating breath as a ‘comma’ (virgule in French).
A work in three movements, it integrates the zooming technique, starting from small commas as vocal inflections, then employing the air button as a comma tail, and eventually - inspired by the virgule stroke in painting - forming mass sound commas with clusters that result in single tones.

Christina Athinodorou (b.1981, Paphos) is a composer and conductor who is based in Cyprus and works internationally.
Her catalogue of works counts more than sixty compositions to date, written for solo, chamber, ensemble, vocal and orchestral forces, as well as electronic means. 
Performers of her music include orchestras such as the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, Orchestre National d'Île-de-France, Athens State Orchestra, ensembles such as Sentieri Selvaggi, Ensemble Aleph, Ensemble Reconsil, Ensemble BlauerReiter, Het Collectief, Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble Wien, soloists such as Alexis Descharmes, Alda Dizdari and others.
Her music has been performed in the Biennale di Venezia, Grafenegg Festival, ISCM-Wien Modern etc. She has been commissioned by Musik der Janderhuderte, Pharos Arts Foundation, Pafos2017 European Capital of Culture, Onassis Cultural Centre, Radio France etc. Her works have been broadcast on BR Klassik, CyBC, RAI3 and France Musique.
Athinodorou appears often as a conductor with orchestras and ensembles, presenting varied programmes that include both standard classical and contemporary music. She has worked with the Nederlands SymfonieOrkest, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta to name a few. 
Christina studied composition and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, with Julian Philips and Alan Hazeldine. Later she studied composition privately with Philippe Leroux in Paris. 
She obtained a PhD from the Royal Holloway University of London and she held artistic residencies at the Cité des Arts, Paris, the CAMAC and the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
