Foggy Thingy

Syrinx Music steps up with its first 2024 release, in the form of a new EP from Paris-area producer lucieter. In the course of its four tracks, emerge submerges the listener in sonic landscapes reflective of Lucie Ternisien’s aesthetics. Taking cues from her works in visual arts, lucieter’s music feels both oneiric and poetic, with atmospheres switching from the menacing tones of “les Ciels” to the soothing vibes of “Libellule”.

Soundwise, emerge hints towards ambient, experimental & leftfield music, as well as dub techno and IDM in their more cinematic and evocative aspects. lucieter seamlessly melts her own voice with field recordings, organic sounds & synthetic waves, to create tracks that display a distinct sense of the narration. Each of these four tunes feels like a canvas for lucieter’s poetry to hover above, yet the vocals occupy the same space as all the other sound components: Lucie Ternisien’s whispers, fragmented, pitched, or echoed words act as expressive pieces of sounds, designed to carry each track’s pictures and emotions.

emerge seems to mirror its artwork: it feels both blurred and deeply emotional, with very different elements blending in cohesive, nostalgic vignettes. Its release goes along with a video representation of “Libellule”, as well as a companion poem.

"Forgotten Stories" is envisioned as a collection of ten short stories, centered around the theme of rediscovering and shedding light on ten particular narratives that have been obscured by the passage of time. This project represents a personal acknowledgment of the fragility of our memories and seeks solace in the profound beauty of nostalgia.

The loops utilised in the creation of this collection were recorded over a span of five years in France, captured on tape. The mixing process took place throughout 2023, incorporating additional elements such as field recordings and shortwave radio signals.
