Metal Blade Records history by Dan Slessor:
Founded upon owner Brian Slagel's enduring drive to find great bands and get their music out to as many people as possible, since 1982 Metal Blade has brought wave after wave of powerful, innovative, and often genre-defining music to the ever-hungry metal masses. It is this ethos that has seen Metal Blade build up a stunning and diverse catalogue, weather the various storms facing any independent label, and in an age of declining record sales boast the most successful years of its existence as it strides into its fourth decade.

What perhaps makes this achievement all the more notable is the fact that Slagel never even intended to start a label. Working in an LA record store and writing for various publications, Slagel was acutely aware that many great bands in the local metal scene were being ignored, and he decided to release a compilation of tracks drawn from these ranks. "There were a lot of really good bands and I was just bummed out that nobody could hear them. It just seemed like I could help them out and have some fun at the same time, and that compilation was the first Metal Massacre," he states. Collating tracks from then unknown bands including Ratt, Bitch, Cirith Ungol, and Metallica amongst others, the compilation sold out immediately. "How important is Metal Blade to our career? They're only the reason we are enjoying the worldwide success we have today," states Metallica's James Hetfield. "Without Brian's openness to some raunchy teens with a crap sounding cassette tape we would be who knows where, and playing who knows what!" With the popularity of the tape spurring Slagel on, the first seeds of Metal Blade were sown. "After the success of those compilations I just started putting out records of bands that I was friends with, but without ever really intending it to be a label at all," he explains. "After I put out four or five releases I started to feel like something was happening, and I decided to quit the record store and quit college and see where it went."

Battling through the first few lean years, when the label consisted solely of Slagel working out of his mom's poorly ventilated garage in the San Fernando Valley, it gradually grew in both revenue and stature. Within a few years Metal Blade would go on to release the debuts of Slayer, Armored Saint, Trouble, and Corrosion Of Conformity amongst others, fanning the flames of the burgeoning metal scene and launching careers of bands that would go onto reap global success. "Without Metal Blade, there is a damn good chance we never would've made it out of L.A," says Slayer's Kerry King. "That was the one bit of luck we needed. You can be the most awesome band on the scene, and if no one notices you, you don't catch on. And Brian Slagel is still one of the biggest metalheads I know!" This genuine love and devotion to metal is central to the relationship many of the artists have with Metal Blade, and King Diamond credits much of its relevance and strength to this passion. "I refer to it as having 'boots on the ground'," the mighty Dane states. "It's not like a major label where some people might be into what you're doing but a lot of them just see it as a job – there's a genuine love for metal there. Through staying true to that and doing their own thing they've carved out a very specific niche that they control, and as an artist it's wonderful to be a part of that."over the years. Writing music ranging from commercials to feature film is my passion and so far I’m blessed to be able to call this my job.

I was born and raised in a musical family so it was hard not to step in the same direction. After years of studying classical piano and playing the classics I gained interest in writing music myself. Inspired by composers such as Howard Shore, John Williams and Hans Zimmer I started to write music myself. Starting from the age of fourteen I was spending all my spare time into this newly discovered passion. Hence there was no other possibility after high school than studying “Composition for the Media” at the Utrecht School of the Arts!

In 2008 I got admitted and in 2012 I graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts degree. During my studies I worked as an intern in New York for Elias Arts, one of the major advertising music houses out there. It was here where I learned the craft of composing music for advertisements. Even though this is an area I love working in, my biggest passion is and has always been music for film. A great deal of projects I’ve worked on are in this area of the working field. This dedication for film music was not kept undiscovered, early 2012 I’ve been asked to work as a composer for a hi-end trailer-music company who gave me the opportunity to write trailer-music for Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters! Since then my music is supporting trailers for oscar winning films like “The Imitation Game” and “Ida” and is, among others, being featured in Terrence Mallick’s recent trailer for the film “Knight Of Cups”

I’m a bass player, composer, educator, and writer from the San Francisco Bay Area with a strong interest in new avenues for music creation. Most of my life has been focused upon performance, with an emphasis upon jazz and Caribbean music. Stone Sonic is a Hard Rock / Progressive Metal Band from Fremont, in Northern California. Stone Sonic has a unique retro sound that is a blend from the 1990’s and the 2020’s. The band has a definite hard alternative rock sound w/ progressive metal vocals, groovy rhythms and soaring guitars.
The Stone Sonic band members started as Deleon Conspiracy in the 1990’s with Gerry de Leon as the lead singer. Deleon played with Testament, Love Hate, Vixen, Bullet Boys, Lizzy Borden, Dee Schnider's WidowMaker, Vicious Rumors etc. and toured small clubs and venues all over the West Coast of the United States. The band finally disbanded in the late 90’s.
Gerry went to sing for "Villain", and recorded one album well after Carl Albert left for Vicious Rumors. Brooks Ramsdell played in various Northern California Bands and Steve Coulthard played with the "Street Freaks", "Wrekking Crew" and "Tattoo Blue" before becoming a studio drummer for hire.
In 2008 the core group of writers and musicians from Deleon were asked to perform at a Niles Station Reunion Concert at the SaddleRack nightclub in Fremont, CA. The newly formed 4, Gerry de Leon - Vocals, Brooks Ramsdell - Guitars, Steve Coulthard - Drums and new bass player Randy Bridges who played with Steve Coulthard in Wrekking Crew, all had a great time playing live so they decided to write a full album for release and play again. The original band name Deleon was dropped because of old band members disagreements and the name "Stone Sonic" was chosen to become the groups new name.
Gerry’s brother Rob de Leon was brought in to fill the rhythm guitar slot because a bigger sound was needed for live shows and Rob brought a new thicker sound to the band. Rob’s years of live stage playing in Rock & Country bands, including "Hillbilly Rockstar" was a huge asset in the stage show and to the recording.
All the music was written by Brooks Ramsdell, Steve Coulthard, Gerry de Leon and Randy Bridges

Audioclube is a rock band from Sao Paulo comprised of Tato Villanova (vocals), Renato Galozzi (guitar), Vinícius Colla (bass) and Robson Pereira (drums).
 
Although it was recently formed – 2010 – Audioclube’s musicians are quite experienced who already perform with several brazilian mainstream artists also being part of innumerous projects.
 
Audioclube is an honest, not trendy and modern musical project influenced by groups such as The Foo Fighters, The Killers and The Strokes as well as british indie rock.

The band presents a sophisticated sonority, filled with synths, electronics and feverish interpretations.

Vibe to this, take your mind on a journey to a higher level.   Using the latest in app music technology, I use the Novation Launch pads, and I pad's, from Apple and various music apps, to make music. Looking to meet new people, and exchange music, and grow relationships on here with other musicians alike.
