Here is the 2nd in a series of 'mixes' I intend to make over the coming weeks of music that I find particularly tranquil. I will try to make these one hour sessions filled with beautiful music that is helpful and calming to listen to while we get through this extraordinarily hard time. The music here definitely helps me feel less anxious. I have taken a slightly different approach on this one and it does feature some beats later in the mix, so feedback welcome on whether this one has the desired effect. It is also available as a 320 download.

JD Twitch - Tranquility Mix 2

From his studio retreat in the heart of the Norwegian forest, Raaja Bones astral projects to a distant paradise, glancing the frosty tips of Norwegian fir trees on his way to exotic locations. 

Trading the Scandinavian fjord for a beach in Miami, Raaja finds a bounce in his step, moonwalking his way across groovy keys and shuffling beats through Boardwalks. A sonic palette echoing with the reverberations of bygone days, playing on a collective nostalgia, a Kodak moment turned gif, frozen on a telephone screen. 

Hazy chords and playful melodies glisten against temperate rhythmical zones as they roll through the arrangement. Disembodied vocals float in a steamy fog above warm tones, as Raaja’s voice passes through the record like a spectral dream. A rusty vignette forms within crystalline tones as bold synthesizers are coerced into reluctant musical forms, ambling through cheery earworms and rousing rubber bass-lines.

For the last four years, Bruce has been a resident at the New York's most visible nightclub, House of Yes, where he holds his monthly party Funk You, playing marathon open to close sets.

Bruce has also provided his curatorial ear to scores of cultural happenings and night spots, including (the now defunct) Output, Kinfolk Studios, 35s & 45s and Le Bain at The Standard High Line, where he was the Assistant Artistic Managing Director under the legendary team that gave New York the Boom Boom Room, APT, SubMercer at the legendary Mercer Hotel.

Bruce has contributed original tunes and remixes for labels Soul Clap, Let's Play House and Fool's Gold. Along with DJs Tommy Castro and William Robbins, Bruce hosts a monthly mix show – GRAND STREET SOUNDS – on The Lot Radio.
In 2018 Bruce started his own imprint – Bumpin' Somethin' Records – out of his apartment.
