Untangling the Yarn is a new audio documentary series highlighting the personal stories of people living with dementia and other memory loss conditions, airing on Bay FM 99.9 and bayfm.org on Wednesday mornings from 10am AEST. One in 12 Australians over the age of 65 are living with some form of dementia, and the primary goal of this series is to help remove the stigma and fear surrounding this condition, and to raise awareness that it is still possible for people with dementia to live fulfilling lives.

The 2nd episode of Untangling the Yarn - Stories from People Living with Dementia. In this episode we meet Colin the Headmaster. Colin speaks about his teaching career, the Lions Club and his love of sailing.
Untangling the Yarn is a new documentary series highlighting the personal stories of people living with dementia, airing on Bay FM on Wednesday mornings from 10am as part of the “Make a Change” show. One in 12 Australians over the age of 65 are living with some form of dementia. The primary goal of this series is to help remove the stigma and fear surrounding this condition, and to show that it is still possible for people with dementia to live fulfilling lives. Untangling the Yarn also features interviews with carers from the Byron Shire Respite Service, information about dementia and tips for family members and carers.

In this episode we meet Valerie the Bookkeeper. Val talks about growing up poor in Brisbane, leaving school at 12, raising 5 children in the Bjelke-Petersen era, yet still managing to have a long term and prestigious career. She also talks about her love of puzzles, singing and going to see the Beatles during their Australian tour.

Meet Mary and Charles - The Lovebirds. In this episode they'll be talking about growing up on dairy farms, Charles' career as a transport inspector, Mary's love of singing and dancing, and the secret to maintaining a long and happy marriage.
