Leighton Grantham, known as Twelve Seven, is a Manchester-based artist known for delivering deep, playful, and powerful musical journeys. As co-founder and resident of 01366, he has been instrumental in shaping both the label's identity and his own unique sound.

Influenced by his upbringing in the north-west of England and his early experiences in the free party scene, Twelve Seven continues to channel these roots into his current style. With performances at notable venues including FOLD, ://about blank, Razzmatazz, The White Hotel, La Cheetah, and Corsica Studios, he is consistently evolving and pushing his creative boundaries.

Recorded at the grassroots venue 1520 Studios, courtesy of Jon Worsley, this mix captures Twelve Seven’s current sound: bold, driving energy layered with deep atmospheres, intricate percussion, and scattered broken rhythms, delivering a compelling hour of relentless energy.

BCCO Mix Series 564: Twelve Seven

"Sound systems are really what move me." The up-and-coming techno artist talks about the physicality of sound and how psychedelics inform his work in the studio.

What makes a good artist? In this RA Exchange, British DJ and producer Andrew Shobeiri, AKA Rene Wise, reflects on being a relatively new name in the scene and considers the success that ultimately comes with time and experience. "There's never a point where you're done," he says.

While Shobeiri is only a few years into his career, the up-and-comer already knows how to draw a crowd. He has finely tuned a highly kinetic and hypnotic techno sound that's brought him legions of fans and bookings on the world's top club and festival lineups. He divulges the ingredients that go into a Rene Wise set, including sound sources from genres beyond the club, like salsa, Iranian radif and the strange orchestration of Steve Reich. He also talks about his experience with psychedelics—which helped lay the groundwork for some of his most formative musical experiences—as well as how sound systems have changed the way he perceives and composes tracks for the dance floor. We're back with our #55 Episode of our Schimmer podcast series with Zürich based DJ and producer Jacom.

Born and raised in Southern Italy, Jacom is an emerging techno DJ and producer based in Zurich. In 2006, he fully dedicated himself to electronic music, which quickly brought him behind the decks. When he moved to Zurich in 2012, his career took an exponential upswing.

In 2016, the talented Italian became a member of the renowned label Adroit and has been an integral part of the collective ever since.

In addition to numerous performances in Italy — e.g. Amnesia (Milano), Azimut (Torino), Cosmic Festival (Firenze) — and throughout Switzerland, Jacom has also demonstrated his skills in other European countries. Berlin is also one of his achievements, where he played in well-known venues such as Anomalie, Renate, Else, Æden, or About Blank.

Jacom is characterized by his groovy and hypnotic sets, which is also reflected in his productions. In the summer of 2023, Jacom undertook a completely new project by founding his own label Reverse, to expand and deepen the techno world in all of its shades. The start of Reverse has already been a huge success, thanks to the creation of a various artists compilation — widely supported from all over the globe.

From the coastline of New England, Annie etched her name into the scene after joining Infra Boston in 2022 — a forward-thinking techno collective paving the city's evolving electronic landscape.
