Stemming from his roots in breakbeat Redamon’s deep connection with music has evolved over the past decade and is evident when listening to his sets. I recently had the opportunity to submit a 'creative piece' which I've never had the chance to do at university. I was pretty rushed for time but I managed to put this together.... The piece is centred around a community based placement I did at a psychiatric disability rehabilitation service. We were only allowed 200 words to accompany this sheezy - pretty wanky but you get the idea. 

A musical journey into the minds of the Mentally ill.

This piece serves not only as a reflection of the myriad nuances of a life defined by mental illness, but a metaphor for the capacity for emotion and the psychiatric condition to transcend the bounds of language. This piece utilises the universal language of music to traverse the landscape of mental illness elucidating the dramatic and fluctuating terrain of the mind. The music and samples encompassed in this journey reflects my experience at **** Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation Service. Each song portrays these varying experiences through the title, lyrics, mood, atmosphere and additionally overlaid samples that are brought forth and developed. This musical journey will aim to explore themes of love, opportunity and clarity, through to the more sinister aspects of mental health - paranoia, fear, and confusion.  From the outset, Sigur Rós illustrate the beginning of my time at **** through their constructed language, Vonlenska. Devoid of semantic meaning, their lyrics symbolise the difficulty in ‘defining’ and understanding mental illness. My time at **** highlighted the importance of listening, without judgement, enabling one to effectively comprehend the intricacies of the psychiatric condition. I implore the listener to immerse him or herself to experience my interpretation of mental illness, an illness that individuals often endure for the remainder of their life.
