PROGRAM NOTES
Summit Trio (a.k.a. Trio from Triple Concerto, "Summit") consists of three of the seven movements from Triple Concerto, “Summit” that focus on the solo trio. I designed these brief movements to function as a stand-alone chamber piece that can be used as a sort of "teaser" for the concerto. In the orchestral version of these movements, the orchestra enhances the trio now and then, but in this version, the trio performs by itself without any extra assistance from the orchestra.

Triple Concerto and Summit Trio were commissioned by the Neave Trio and premiered by the trio at the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.

It's a journey through rain and melancholy, where wet streets reflect memories and unfulfilled desires. The city's heartbeat blends with the sound of the rain, as unanswered questions fade into the storm. A track wrapped in dark atmospheres and intense melodies, for those who can hear the sound of solitude.

Hey there, inhabitants of the music planet!🙌🏻
We dusted off 2050's Blues, one of our less famous tracks from last year. Back then, landing 100 plays on SoundCloud was basically a celebration. Lately, thanks to their algorithm pushing AI stuff, it kinda feels like we’re almost back there 🤔. We gave it a proper makeover with fresh guitar and bass effects, a couple of sneaky layers to spice it up, drums fixed with no more clipping madness, and even the vocals got a serious upgrade. Turns out Tom was a little too generous with the compression last time, yeah, blame the producer! 🤣
Now it finally grooves the way it was meant to.

I have new music released, but this one is different than the rest. 

I wrote this as a draft for the song I composed with my partner and the Louisville Orchestra. 

This song represents more than just a grown man going through a delayed and protracted adolescence on the dance floor or however you see me in your mind’s eye. It represents a time in my life when I was:

- On the brink of achieving a dream
- Flooded with voices in my head telling me that I’ll never be a real musician 
- Desperate for freedom and release from the tyranny of expectation and the recovered gaze 
- More in love with my dreams than I’d ever been with any man in my entire life. 

I made this immediately after I got off the phone with my partner discussing the vibe we wanted. I was just going to go make a rough sketch of something. After about 15 minutes into it, when I started writing the first dissonance part, I was in a trance and finished it in about an hour. 

Two weeks later, we go to meet the composer with the orchestra who’s mentoring us to show him what we’ve got. 

If you’ve never had to sit quietly in a room with a real composer and have them listen to your track while it rolls through your DAW, it is… a unique anxiety 😅

If you’ve never had the pleasure of sitting quietly in a room with a real composer while he kinda fangirls over the elements in the song with extreme specificity… It is a unique high like none other. 

“It won’t sound the same. Your track. You can try to get it close, but you can’t get it exactly” 

If you want to experience this song the way that I did when I wrote it, give this a shot:

Here we are with our last track of the month.
Lately, Carl @thebeautifuldark has been working on some important projects to raise awareness about the indiscriminate use of AI in the world of art. This track came from deep conversations between us, exploring themes of identity, authenticity, and the growing trend of music that’s “AI-made” but never truly felt or played.

Vacant Stares is a cryptic, cult-like vision of a digital future, where prompters replace creators, and artistic expression is reduced to hollow commands.
Blank stares. Selfish prayers. Fake songs for simulated feelings.
This track is a warning. A question. A reversed ritual.
It asks you: who are you, when you no longer use your own voice?

The song is divided into two parts:

Beating Edge's part:
It’s gothic, cinematic, full of ritualistic and unsettling imagery. The atmosphere evokes abandoned temples, secret cults, carved symbols… with that sense of existential disorientation like “they’re initiating me into something but I don’t know what.”
It feels like a lucid nightmare or a hallucination induced by an intelligence simulating spirituality.
Carl’s part:
More brutal, direct, anti-establishment. Almost a rap/spoken-word poem loaded with accusations towards those who use AI in a sterile, heartless way. “Selfish prayers / Fake / Unfair” hit like punches in the gut in just four words. It’s the awakening from hypnosis.

Let’s reflect! And use AI as a tool to amplify art, not to replace it!

Loading Holidays (Instrumental - Chiptune)

This is not just a song. This is a chapter.

The lyrics for this track are taken from a key scene in the unpublished novel "Hinter uns das Land" (The Land Behind Us). It tells the raw, unfiltered story of a young German refugee's "homecoming" in 1948 – not to a welcoming fatherland, but to a landscape of destroyed train stations, bureaucratic coldness, and the quiet, heartbreaking moment a lifelong dream is shattered by a single piece of paper.

Musically, this piece is a fusion of melancholic jazz, blues, and deep, weary spoken-word verses, creating a cinematic, "film noir" atmosphere for this tale of disillusionment.

This is the sound of a generation arriving home, only to find they are more lost than ever before.

Der Text für diesen Track wurde aus einer Schlüsselszene des unveröffentlichten Romans "Hinter uns das Land" übernommen. Er erzählt die rohe, ungefilterte Geschichte der "Heimkehr" einer jungen deutschen Vertriebenen im Jahr 1948 – nicht in ein willkommen heißendes Vaterland, sondern in eine Landschaft aus zerstörten Bahnhöfen, bürokratischer Kälte und dem leisen, herzzerreißenden Moment, in dem ein Lebenstraum durch ein einziges Stück Papier zerstört wird.

I once overheard a conversation. A friend was saying "we're just women with too much rope".  I wasn't' entirely sure what she meant, but the phrase stuck with me.

Inspired by someone we know really well who once dreamed of being rich and famous all around the world as a porn star 😏. Do What You Like kicks off and closes with a couple of very convincing moans from Mary (well, maybe actually 3!) 😅, channeling her inner pornstar. And finally, she's back in the spotlight with her electric guitars! She went full pedalboard mad, filling a 40 sqm (430 sq ft) living room with pedals, EQs, and effects until it basically turned into a no-move zone! You literally couldn’t step without tripping over something.😆
This isn’t a moral lecture on porn, just a little warning: chasing something can come back to bite you later, especially if your goals change. So yeah… think twice, live loud, but keep an eye on the future.
Energetic, upbeat, punchy alt-rock with groovy bass, tight drums, fiery guitar riffs, and scorching guitar solos, with a vibe that’s equal parts garage and fun chaos (…at least we think so, we’re not really good at pinning down genres!).

Rapture is a new collaboration between the Beating Edge and Joe Stroffolino, following the awesome 'Asteroids (The Original Was Better) (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/asteroids-the-original-was). Joe wrote both the lyrics and the original music, while the Beating Edge rearranged and recorded it in a punchy rock style, adding driving guitars, strong rhythm, and dynamic choruses. Vocals feature Tom on lead, with Joe and Mary contributing both backing vocals and lead parts on certain verses and the bridge, creating a layered and energetic vocal texture.
The song explores the absurdity and irony of doomsday prophecies, the obsession with the rapture, and the endless cycle of believers and false prophets.
