Ghostly goings on from secret manipulators and exotic strangers: Danza Macabra renew hostilities with the Croatian vocalist Diyala, headlining two deep house tracks that push the dancefloor close to the edge before bringing the vibe back into the light. The collaboration marks a resumption of a partnership that yielded ‘Getcha Wiv Me’ on the Slovenian label in 2011, a similarly deep bunker of clubbing featuring squirming vocal incisions, and a dub version that went on to be released on Silicone Soul label Darkroom Dubs.

‘In For It" is weaving a narrative bearing the Danza Macabra ethos as it recalls a flower growing in a field, surrounded by power plants and factories. When the flower sheds its petals, the wind and a friendly bird take it on a trip to the stars. Pushing ideas of courage and how anybody can choose and reach their destiny, the flower continues on a sightseeing mission through storms and mountains, until reaching a desert which is the cue for it to grow and blossom healthily. It certainly lives up to the label statement of being “only our dream in the real form.”

The track itself shows that all that glitters is not gold. The hip-hop-raised Diyala, winner of Best Female Vocalist in her native Croatia, is found coaxing and stretching like a leather-clad temptress, realising the best traditions of breathy pop vamps and dance dominatrices. Fraught with impending danger, lyrics flex their control over the fragile mood like a snake ready to snap, and the wary, spindly rhythms and sense of foreboding through simple up-down chord changes, are tailored perfectly for moving under a full moon.

The undulating instrumental ‘Don’t Forget Tomorrow’ opens the curtains and lets in a watery light, but is no less stark a dancefloor experience. Illuminated by sequential synth patterns in a willowy trance atmosphere approaching levitation, in many ways there’s the suggestion that you should just close your eyes and relax. Really, you should keep an eye and both ears open for what lies beneath

PREMIERE: Thallulah, William Medagli & Jose Maria Ramon - Moroderisezer (Einmusik Remix)

Brooklyn-based producer Brian Cid follows up standout releases on the likes of Knee Deep In Sound, Lost & Found and microCastle with a debut on Berlin's Save Us Records (home to the likes of Jonas Saalbach, YokoO and Kris Davis). The two track release, which has already won the hallowed support of BBC Radio 1 legend Pete Tong, comes strapped with a remix from  rising star Andrea Ljekaj.

The former pop/hip-hop producer took time out of his intense schedule this week to talk us through the release, his current projects and his motivation behind the move to the electronic underworld. Premiere: Brian Cid - Slowest Poison [Save Us Records]

Next up on John Digweed’s forward-thinking Bedrock label is an exceptional single-track release from a key member of the Hamburg-based Diynamic collective – Holger Behn aka H.O.S.H.

‘Lunchtime’ with its infectious, restrained, inexorable upward trajectory is a masterpiece that bides its time.  Nothing is rushed, the pace is perfect, the arrangement sublime.  The complex interplay of percussive parts becomes an integral melodic element, underpinned with the rising swell of deep bass pads, steadily building towards a euphoric breakdown before re-launching into a heavenly final movement of blissful magnificence. 

It is no wonder that ‘Lunchtime’ is such a master-class of musical brilliance, because H.O.S.H. is a DJ who values the art of mixing records and sequencing journeys - preferably long ones - over anything else.  Anyone who has been witness to his DJ sets played during his gigs on every continent over the last few years would be unlikely to disagree.  His lengthy sessions behind the decks have afforded him an exceptional, invaluable insight into exactly what works best on the world’s finest dancefloors.

His enthusiasm to drive electronic music ever forward is a perfect match with John Digweed and his Bedrock label’s aim to always continue to push musical boundaries further.

Maltese X-Man The Element lands on Engrave Ltd with a release that includes remixes from the Italian duo VII Circle and Sicilian DJ/Producer Musumeci.

The original mix is dominated by an obscure pulsating beat and brass combo, culminating into a dramatic break just in time to breath before the final ride. Andrea Vallisneri and Andrea Casari under their VII Circle moniker turns Morphius into an even darker and more hypnotic atmosphere giving back a deeper perspective of the main hook. Finally Musumeci pushes things towards more progressive and melodic territories adding a hell of an arpeggio he found behind the texture of original version.

Morphius will be available August 5th via Engrave LTD.

The Berlin based artist has long been praised for his distinctive design and creative vision. A collection of rare, hard to find equipment coupled with endless nights in the studio has seen Patrick carve out a sound all his own. Never stagnant, always evolving and resonating through his memorable live shows, continuing to deliver a fresh message as he tours the globe. Now following releases for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Marc Poppcke's Crossfrontier Audio, MUUI makes his much anticipated microCastle debut with a brand new 4 track EP entitled 'Amelie'.

The aptly titled 'Static Puddles' follows with its granular haze and meditative pulse. A piece that pulls you into its tranquil, dream-like environment where you eventually get lost in a collage of psychedelic audio. Also a standout from MUUI's recent live shows as he describes "Cycles of repetition. Daily contradictions. It's all becomes a blur. Static Puddles. The concept of 'Static Puddles' was to create a bridge track for my live sets to take me from gentle and groovy up to something like that of 'Iusa' or the other way around back down. The music and percussion elements are versatile and super fun to play with, it's been one of my favourite tracks the last few times I've played live. The Nord Lead 2 features a lot in this alongside the Pittsburgh Wave Forms module whilst the main drum elements are from the TR8."

Erased Tapes artists Kiasmos (Janus Rasmussen & recent Late Night Tales compiler Ólafur Arnalds) and Rival Consoles are the first to reconstruct Sasha’s Scene Delete vision in their own image. Kiasmos take Scene Delete’s fragile, beatless closing track ‘Vapour Trail’ and transform it into an ambient-house anthem, equally suited to home listening or for club use. Rival Consoles’ nocturnal take on ‘Cassette Sessions E’ feeds from the London-based electronic songwriter’s critically lauded style of humanised techno, building from hypnotic melancholia to a joyous crescendo.
