I started by listening to last weeks tunes whilst driving to the local store, I started singing along with Birds Sing In The Trees, by the time I got behind a microphone later that night, the exact words had disappeared, yet the bones of the melody could be recalled, I did 5 layers of vocals, 1st take for each, during the recording I was thinking of an image seen that day of men hunting grouse with big guns and how birds are not safe in this human world. A little bit of editing and some mixing mainly with various console channel emulations with a bit of extra saturation, then finding the best balance with the bed track.

En medio de una devastación ecológica en aumento constante, la teórica feminist multiespecies Donna J. Haraway ofrece nuevas y provocadoras maneras de reconfigurar nuestras relaciones con la tierra y sus habitantes. Evita referirse a nuestra época actual como el Antropoceno: prefiere el concepto de lo que llama el Chthuluceno, ya que describe más y mejor nuestra época como aquella en la que humanos y no humanos se encuentran inextricablemente ligados en prácticas tentaculares. El Chthuluceno, explica Haraway, requiere sim-poiesis, o hacer-con, en lugar de auto-poiesis, o auto-creación. 

Aprender a seguir con el problema de vivir y morir juntos en una tierra herida favorecerá un tipo de pensamiento que otorgará los medios para construir futuros más vivibles. Para ello Haraway propone un pensamiento tentacular, conducido teórica y metodológicamente por el significante SF –siglas en inglés de figuras de cuerdas, hechos científicos, ciencia ficción, feminismo especulativo, fabulación especulativa y hasta ahora– . Su trabajo presta especial atención a la intersección de la biología con la cultura y la política, la SF y los mundos multiespecies.

En esta sesión trataremos de forma introductoria y de la mano de Helen Torres las principales propuestas epistemológicas y metodológicas con las que Haraway nos invita a seguir con el problema. 

Helen Torres es socióloga, traductora y educadora. Ha publicado la novela Autopsia de una langosta (Melusina, 2009), la antología “Relatos marranos” (Pol·len, 2014) y la crónica “Ciutat Morta. Crónica del Caso 4F” (Huidobro, 2016). Se ha especializado en el pensamiento de Donna Haraway, de quien ha traducido “Testigo_Modesto@Segundo_Milenio” (UOC, 2004), “Manifiesto Chthuluceno desde Santa Cruz” (Laboratory Planet, 2016), “Seguir con el problema” (consonni, 2019) y "Mujeres, simios y cíborgs" (Alianza, 2023). Ha traducido la novela de ciencia-ficción “Mujer al borde del tiempo”, de Marge Piercy (consonni, 2020).
