The installation involves visual objects which are placed throughout the space. This is accompanied by a sound piece devised from recordings of the visual objects and electronic noise. The audience is invited to travel through the space. As they do, their perception of the sound will adjust with their movements, allowing them to construct their own personal experience. This is achieved by triggering distortion product otoacoustic emissions, which are supplementary tones produced by the cochlea.

Ben Nigel Potts is an artist exploring the relationship between sound and sculpture through installation art. His work removes sound from the musical context and explores space, physicality, audience participation / interactivity, algorithmic generation and extreme minimalism/simplicity. His works are characterised by their intense physical effects created by auditory distortions (distortion product otoacoustic emissions) and the invitation to the audience to form their own individual experience through space and movement.
