I wrote this song when I was 21 in Nashville. 

I thought about my past, an empty bottle and a barrel of laughs 
But I'm still alone 
I knew I was lost when I finally found myself again 
A long, long way from home 
So I wrote an ode to beauty but I kept it in my pocket 
It figures in the end that I finally said "fuck it" 
I'm so scared of love that I convinced myself I hate it 
And now my heart is cold 
So I sharpened some words to the sentiment of a locket 
But it only dulled my soul 
May truth be told and may truth be what is sacred 
Call me a failure and somehow I stay jaded 
Now I'm just a lonely man with memories to keep me warm at night 
But it gets so cold 
Since I'm being so honest with you I'll give you another piece of advice 
Bleed your heart like it's all you got 
You'll find that your heart is an endless well of love that never stops giving 
If you got something left to give
