My age-old demoscene alter ego "Power of Creation" created two albums. This is my first album, partly named after the neat 3DStudio Max drawing I did with the fantasy cones. The songs are created in Impulse Tracker and most samples are found on sample compilations or in songs from artists I love(d).

After working late punching export invoices at UPS, my friend and colleague drove me home in what can be described as "criminally high speed". On top of being overtired, this car ride got my adrenaline pumping and before I knew it, the outline for Adrenaline was done. A couple of weeks later in 1997, this tune was completed.

As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Adrenaline was created in Impulse Tracker on MS DOS.

This is a hysterically cheesy house tune that I created over a lead melody I'm sure I've ripped from someone, somewhere, but as I've never discovered what the inspiration might be, I'll leave this up here as an "original" tune nevertheless.

A rather boring tune that barely made it on to the album "Beyond Fantasy". I think the break is ok in its build-up and take-off, but overall I'm not very happy with this tune.

Power of Creation - Project Millennium

I have no recollection on how I got to the samples from the 1978 animated film, "The Lord of The Rings", but they somehow ended up on my harddrive and long before the Peter Jackson movies were even thought of, this song came to life.

This is my second orchestral tune and because of its harmonies, I decided "Halloween" to be a fitting name.

Rage was built upon the disharmony and sound effects created by Puma. I'm placing this in the Psytrance genre although it's not nearly as psychedelic as modern psytrance. I hope you enjoy the harmonies as much as I did when I created it.

Sweat is the second of a three-part tune series starting with Blood and ending with Tears, all using the same samples. Sweat was  created after several iterations on the same theme and I ended up creating this "Edit" that is a bit shorter the others.

As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Sweat was created in Impulse Tracker on MS DOS.

Uncherrished Bitch is an acidic tune I threw together in a couple of evenings. Not much to say about it other than that I'm not too proud of the name, however, I felt it matched the feeling of the song, so there you have it.

Behind the Curtains is a trance tune based on a blippy lead, transitioning into a circus-inspired break and back into regular blippy trance-land towards the end. Due to the circus-themed middle part, I thought the name "Behind the Curtains" would be alluring, mystical, and fitting.

Walking is one song split in 3 parts since that's a cool effect when playing a CD. As separate files in reverse order on SoundCloud, it doesn't make much sense, though. Anyhoo, this is part 1 of the song created by my dad playing the guitar and me throwing beats, bass, leads, and chords on top of it.

Power of Creation - Walking (Part 3)

United in Power came to be from a nice sinus wave and heavy kick. From there I just threw together some chords and finally came up with a lead that can barely carry the song to its end.

As with all songs on the album, this tune is created in Impulse Tracker 2.14 on MS-DOS where samples above 8 bits were luxurious, so if you find the sound quality lacking, then that's the (main) cause.

Back in the Shire is a remix of @moduloone's song by the same name. The original had a slower, more pop-inspired arrangement, but I wanted to juice it up and made this trance version that became quite popular during my school's 1999 "spring break" (russetid).

Medieval Orphanage was my first attempt at creating something orchestral and cinematic. Since most of the instruments are 8-bit and the mastering techniques available in Impulse Tracker were "limited", it doesn't sound very good, but I'm pretty happy with the overall theme and keys.

The Army is a fast-paced trance tune I completed in a few days. The main theme is inspired by DJ Tiësto and other trance artists I listened to at the time. I felt that the sound quality got better with this tune than the earlier, mostly due to finding better 16-bit samples and by gaining more understanding of how to manipulate instruments and combine them in new ways.

Power of Creation - The Army

Open Your Heart is not a Power of Creation production. I only finished off a song a friend of mine (calling himself "Puma" at the time) started, but didn't finish. I thought it sounded so good that I included it on my "Beyond Fantasy" album.

This song also served as an inspiration to some of the songs on my second album, "3rd Floor", because it contained so many new, high-quality samples. As with all of the songs we produced in the 90's, this was created with Impulse Tracker in MS-DOS.

Puma - Open Your Heart

"Lykke Liten!" is a remix of a song written by Claus Frimann Dahl Clasen in 1927. It's just a silly little tune I wanted to end the first album with.

Bitbear is Asbjørn Ulsberg's tone-hammering, beat-juggling and demoscene participating alter ego.

Bitbear started fiddling with music in Pro Tracker on the Amiga 500 in the early 90's. But first when he got his hands on Scream Tracker and Fast Tracker on a PC, he started producing "real" music under the alias "Power of Creation".

He created two albums and submitted songs to various demoscene competitions throughout the 90's until he put his musical career on the shelf until it was rebooted in 2012 by entering the Kindergarden 2012 Dance Music Competition under the new-found alias Bitbear.
