Bio: Tunisian by birth, Sami first got a taste of music, when he got his first complete setup and started to juggle with melodic, organic and tribal sounds. In constant search for new sounds, Sami takes inspiration from the ethnic tunes and instruments, spiritual music and melodic vocals. With every mix, listeners are bound to travel with him on a unique and exotic journey. He enjoys juggling with various genres of underground music, going from dreamy downtempo to ethereal techno.
His mixes were streamed on international radio stations and respected outlets as Ibiza Global Radio (IBZ), Ibiza Sonica Radio (IBZ), Deep House Dubai (DXB), Deep House Barcelona (BCN), Psychedelic Kitty (PAR) and Elysium Collectif (PAR).

This Set was recorded at my Session in April @ Bergwacht. Its a live take and remastered for ur consideration. I chose the first part of the 140 minutes set and might bring up the rougher side of my reportoire later in another set. As additional feature it includes 2 or 3 of my new yet unreleased tracks. No matter where I am when I play tracks with sounds from this continent people really start to dance. There seems to be something about the music from this part of the world that connects deep within us.

This set is an homage to Africa. Not all of the songs are made there, but they seem to speak the language of this region. There are also samples taken from a trip Dean took recently to Kenya that are woven into the set. I hope this hour set takes you on your perfect journey.

Witchtape #58 | Guest Wizards : Missfeat

(Story continued from Witchtape #56)

Finally, after spending one night in the African rain forest in the loving presence of all sorts of exotic animals and trees, the little witch sensed that the time was finally right to fly the last mile to the village in the nearby clearing… the home village of her soon-to-be-husband wizard and – of course – her future parents-in-law.  The girl was very nervous, but not because of the prospect of meeting her in-laws but simply because the village was full of people, while so far the biggest crowd the solitary girl had ever seen, consisted of 3 witches, including herself.  
Soon afterwards the girl started flying at a gentle pace towards the village, which seemed deserted (the wizard had instructed the villagers to stay indoors in order not to unsettle their airborne guest).  The witch calmed down a bit when she saw a giant baobab tree in the middle of the village.  With a graceful movement, she touched down at the foot of the tree.  Immediately after her feet hit the ground, she heard some children erupting in cheers in the nearby building with a thatched roof, and soon afterwards she saw 8 schoolgirls getting out of the wooden building and running towards the witch while cheering enthusiastically.  They immediately hugged the European witch warmly and touched her pale-white skin as well as her incredibly soft long brown hair, which was not curly like their own hair.  The little girls were all between 7 and 10 years old.  They were all black, yet they had all distinctly different colors and appearances.  The witch felt a strong energy flowing back and forth during the group hug… she had never felt so much love.  Visibly the 8 children were all witches-in-the-making.
After a few minutes, the witch saw an elderly couple walking out of the school building.  The 8 girls all became quiet when they saw their school principals approaching.  
They explained that in the course of the last couple of years, the 8 girls had all by themselves found the way to this village from the 8 different corners of Africa, and after arriving they all said that they wanted to become a witch and protect the rain forests of the continent.  But actually nobody in the village knew exactly what they needed to teach these girls to become a witch, but they sensed a solution would appear out of the blue in due time.  So the elders of the villages, started teaching the kids about the plants and animals of the forest, and also about medicinal brews as well as the delicate celestial energies of the sun, the moon and the stars.  It soon became clear that all the 8 girls had a special mystic bond with the animals of the surrounding forest, and quite often one of the kids slipped out of the village to spend some time in the wilderness, where the friendly animals took care of them before bringing them back to the village at dusk time…

Before she became Black Velveteen,
Chris Offutt was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. Her parents introduced her to a wide range of music; Motown to Mozart and everything in between. Some frequently featured artists in young Chris’s house were Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor. Current influences include Chris Fortier, Amonita, Wilma, Nora En Pure, Tayllor, Andre Lodemann, Bedouin, and Matt Sawyer to name a few.

From a very young age she dreamed of hosting her own radio show. In 2011 that dream became when she had her own show “ Progressions in House” on FNOOB based out of London.
Chris enjoyed DJing around the San Francisco Bay Area from 2012-2019 . In 2012 she became the resident DJ and musical director at Aloft Hotel SFO. In 2013 Djing in the Pride Parade on the W Hotel float. In 2015 she was asked to perform on the Tantra Stage for Pride in San Francisco. She was in rotation at The End Up and did guest spots and Monarch, The Great Northern and Wish. In 2016 Chris was asked to join AirPusher Collective. She has also done guest mixes for FriskyRadio, Proton Radio and Elastic Beatz, Innerflight, Space Medicine and more. She currently enjoys residencies at Caravan, Reflect and is coproducer and resident at Habitat Seattle Velveteen's style and sound is indescribable as she reaches for sounds and music that turn her listeners on to a new experience.
