Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition we welcome Deep Ghosh (@deep_schismic)

Deep (and yes, it really is his name) started his DJing journey in a sweaty club in Berlin back in 2017, where he witnessed his growing obsession for electronic music tip over from hobby to worthwhile passion. Since then, he has travelled to some of the dustiest and lushest corners of the globe from his hometown Melbourne to the beaches of Bali, from Black Rock City to the Tankwa Karoo of South Africa, from the mountains of Sinai to the Red Sea and beyond living out this passion. 

His musical selections are one of unabashed love of emotional, vocal melodies juxtaposition to the deeper end of the sonic spectrum, while showing the influences of his musical upbringing in rock music and pop culture as well as occasionally giving us peeks into the music of his ancestors.

While the world slowed down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deep managed to stay engaged in his passion for music. Since 2020, he is one of the curators of the Flow Sessions long-format mix series. He is also co-organiser, curator and "rave engineer" of boutique gatherings such as UTOPIA Festival, as well as being involved in organizing Burner and underground gatherings in Berlin and Amsterdam (where he is based since 2020 in pursuit of his rather cosmic day job as a space engineer looking after climate monitoring satellite missions).

This mix really captures how I love to get lost in music, create emotional journeys and showcase some of my musical influences. It was one of those situations of being out in a magical corner of the world--on a boat, out on the turquoise waters of the Red Sea--with some of my nearest and dearest celebrating the birthday of a legendary woman, and opening the musical proceedings for a week of love laughter and riding the waves.

Last weekend I was playing back to back with my dear friend Dj @EdNoodle. This beach festival called "Zongeluk" which means Sun happyness in Dutch.. and we had the best sunny weather, which indeed made us all very happy! Thank you Wolvenroedel for the lovely beach vibes.

On that dusty Friday after sunset, what was supposed to be a 1.5hr set turned into 4+ hours of dusty, slothy, downtempo tunes for everyone at Alight Market Village (7+D) and its slothy dancers. 
What a ride !! Thank you Ajesh + everyone that expressed their feelings on the dancefloor mid dust storm <3 Made my burn! 

Grateful to share 3hr18min of my only downtempo set at this year's burn.

We have several things to say in the description of this set, and first comes the text Niki emailed us: "I'm dedicating this to a good friend of mine and the unconditional love and support we have for each other no matter where we are and what we are going through in life." Next comes an excerpt from a poem by Pablo Neruda we came upon on @nikisadeki's page and found it to be exhilarating: "Let’s try and avoid death in small doses, always reminding oneself that being alive requires an effort by far greater than the simple fact of breathing."
