Sascha Ciminiera out of Darmstadt-City is a prime example of making music just perfect for the occasion. The "Galerie Kurzweil" affiliate manufactures House Music that makes people move their feet even before the proper party starts (see "Lights" on Footjob for reference). In other words: "Milla calls" is the tune you will hear when entering the dance floor for the first time. Some senior experts even claim the best records gets played in the beginning of the night anyways. Grazie mille Sascha! At the same time Johannes Albert adds some more euphoria with his Metro Mix. Fruit Merchant, the newborn label child of Hidden Spheres is turning three. Releases, that is. Launched earlier this year, Tom Harris has already managed to put three different offerings together for the masses. We had the pleasure of premiering the B1 on the first EP from the label founder himself entitled "Wonders of the Rainforest". The follow up was a re-issue of the classic Earth Boys (Roy Davis Jr & Jay Juniel) release "Destination Heaven", initially out on the then defunct, but now newly revitalized Undaground Therapy Muzik.

Fruit Merchant's third offering comes from fresh-faced producer Native Cruise who's got one track released to date on YAM Records. We've got the pleasure of premiering the B1 and title track, "Calypso Spring". The dreamy chord sequence starts off the production with just a slight hint of darkness. A simple yet groovy percussion groove introduces the rhythm and then the fat sounding bass comes in, following the downward trajectory of the chords. This ditty is a slowly developing jam that really hits its stride a little past the midway point, where all of the elements start to come together. An arpeggiated mallet melody, cosmic pads and the suspenseful background theme work with the other elements to create one of the more interesting pieces on the EP. We can see this one perfectly closing out some dancefloors in the wee hours.

This superb offering from the mighty label Quintessentials, sees Glaswegian producer OOFT! (Ali Herron) mix the aptly titled track ‘Freak-E Groove (Proto House Mix)’. This chic 80’s disco moment of synthy splendour is a party piece - a fabulously fitting way to dance into the labels 10th year releasing bangers from artist all over the globe.

O0FT! expertly layers his music, with the use of echoing husky vocals breathing in at opportune times, sounding trim and crisp. Exploring the avenues of disco music, he places claps and high hats perfectly across the page whilst keeping the cowbells going along with the classy groove. The distorted sirens that build and form out of a curved synthy line subtly emerge creating a trippy mirage of sound as you move through the melody - bringing together an artist and label who understand and deliver raw deep house music every time!
