Introversion delivers a powerful five-tracker on FJAAK's CROWD with 'Ghost Rockets', pushing his signature blend of gritty textures, stripped-down rhythms and emotional weight even further.

Known for fusing 90s-rooted techno with contemporary clarity, Introversion opens the EP with 'Lights', a track that rides a relentless hardgroove rhythm before lifting off into an epic, melodic climax made for big rooms and peak-time moments. The title track 'Ghost Rockets' follows with the unmistakable CROWD signature: rolling, minimalistic grooves anchored by Detroit-inspired synth stabs and tense, driving percussion. On the B-side, 'Visitors' starts deep and atmospheric, slowly morphing into a propulsive, forward-pushing roller that balances subtlety and pressure. On 'Hessdalen' things take a darker turn: A menacing groove emerges, led by evil synth stabs that march with precision through a hypnotic, unrelenting beat. The EP closes with 'Wow-Signal', a digital-only track that begins with a long robotic intro, building tension before unfolding into a groovy, nerdy banger loaded with synthetic detail and energy.

Slam return on their Soma Records label, with the Quiet Riot EP. 2020 has been a very prolific year for the the duo, delivering their 4th EP for the label so far this year. All their firing trademark sounds and intricacies remain intact in this 3 track hard hitting release. 

Severed opens with hard, industrial elements as the relentless percussion fires off, but in true Slam style the vibe remains hypnotic and engaging. Motor drifts into more Birmingham-esq territory with twitch and modulating sequences leading the way again straight, jacked up percussion. Intensifying things on the last track, Electrical turns up the drive and delivers tension with white knuckle percussive workouts, thundering kicks and dynamic synths.

@grindvik and @sylvie-maziarz join forces following the Swedish techno giant’s remix of Sylvie’s track ‘Increased’ in 2019. With an accomplished category of releases from Maziarz throughout the last two years, the rising Berlin artist and Berghain regular Grindvik unleash their thunderous 5 track collaboration with none other than the virtuous Second State.

The EP launches with menacing strains and flurried hi-hats in ‘Bullet Tower’. Similarly to the other tracks on the EP, this cut narrates a story using a particular element, in this case the clattering bells and shuddering bass brooding throughout to create urgency, soon intensified by distorted acid lines. Next up is title track ‘Before We Run’, led by a ferocious heaving kick-drum and a bubbling vocal that ripples over the hysteria. Synth notes swirl throughout and gradually overwhelm the rhythm, before it bolts through and drives forward once again.

The flip-side launches with ‘Utopia’. Driven by an unusual, wild percussion and drawn out foreboding synths, the duo commands focus with unbroken kicks against whirring beeps, tumultuous keys and jolting claps. Taking us on a trancey paradisiacal odyssey is ‘Circles’. Characterised by the subdued sample of a hospital monitor at the beginning and end, with ethereal drawn out pads that take us on a journey between earth and the other side.

The final track incorporates dense sonics to build to climax. Sharp synths rise and decline to drive you into a trance, while shattering kick and snare drums roll throughout, awarding ‘Light Storm’ its place as a definitive roller on this release.

Continuing to run his no-nonsense techno-focussed sub-label with aplomb, Radio Slave recruits legendary UK DJ/producer Mark Broom for a mammoth eight track release on Rekids Special Projects.

Across ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’, Broom turns in eight fast paced techno rockets, each averaging three minutes in length. Bryan Chapman is from Southern England and runs the Monotony imprint while also appearing on quality labels like Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records, Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien and Cari Lekebusch’s H-Productions as he introduces his new EP Ròta that draws its title from Norse mythology.

For this DT:Premiere we selected “Kofan” that has a menacing feel straight out the gate. Edgy and hypnotic stabs create the abstract hook surrounded by other layers and fine touches of sound that keep it driving forward. The powerful track later adds more bleeping tones to the unrelenting style it beholds, and being one that seasoned techno heads will happily get lost in its mechanical aesthetic.
