Manchester’s finest soulstress, Private Joy, returns to Rhythm Section INTL with ‘Pure Love Remixed’ a follow up to the widely acclaimed debut EP “Desire”. 4 different versions, taking alternate directions from the same source, With Private Joy the guiding vision behind the record, her broad influences are on full display here: from electro to drum and bass to dub, label mates and close collaborators all throw their ante in the project.

Frequent collaborator Lenzman, the prestigious drum and bass producer, and consistently incredible remixer, lends his production quality with a scorchingly tight remix. Fellow Mancunian and Rhythm Section INTL affiliate Hidden Spheres, takes the Afrika Bambaataa vibe and merges it with upfront street soul energy, maintaining the Meduulla rap verse.

For the final 2 remixes, versatile reggae producer Mali-I joins forces with Jamaican-bred, Manchester-born vocal extraordinaire Fox: flipping the original into a late 70s reggae version + dub, with live drums and bass, tape delay and spring reverb - channelling U-Roy meets King Tubby.

Frankfurt’s Phil Evans has a knack for distilling the essence of Deep House into something that feels both timeless and alive in the moment - a skill honed over years of running labels, curating releases, and playing marathon sets as a Robert Johnson resident. On "Free", the B1 cut from his second studio album "E-Motions" on his own Freizeit Records, Evans delivers exactly what the genre promises at its very best: depth, groove, and an unshakable sense of sophistication.

Deep, velvety chords lay the foundation while airy pads drift through like late-night fog over empty city streets. A spoken vocal - “I just want to be free, cruising through the streets, to that beat, moving in my seat” - threads itself between the beats, adding a human warmth to the precision-tooled production. After his 2024 album The Spirit Continues, Tilman returns with Altered Spaces, a tightly focused four-track EP that distills his signature sound into a concise, club-ready format.

Opening track Make My Body Move sets the tone with soulful vocals, warm piano stabs, a rolling bassline and a breezy Balearic vibe. The Last Resort deepens the mood, layering pads, organ hits and shimmering strings over a steady, driving groove.

Rounding out the EP are two reimagined cuts from The Spirit Continues. Dance Department (Spirit Mix) smooths out the rougher edges of the original, adding organ stabs and a more melodic sensibility. Need It (Dance Dub) transforms the track into a softer, dub-tinged version - hypnotic, restrained and full of subtle movement.

You’d be forgiven for thinking these 4 tracks had been discovered from a dusty DAT tape, locked away in the vaults of a northern Italian club and rediscovered after 30 years….Listen more closely and you’ll notice the contemporary production flair and more recent influences that make this EP a perfect reinterpretation of the mid 90s house sound: sitting somewhere between dream house and Morales finest work under the red zone moniker.
