History

"Magnesia" by BrainStorm Operations is a handmade instrumental composition that enchants the senses with its captivating melodies and intricate arrangements. 

Keith spent a ridiculous amount of time getting this off-set and extremely complex pattern down on the drums. The song opens with a gentle and cerebal introduction, setting the stage for the musical journey that lies ahead. 

Gltchy, cross-beat tendencies emerge as the music progresses, layers of harmonies intertwine, weaving a tapestry of sound that evokes a sense of wonder and curiosity. 

But it won't take you long to hear that we find ourselves in BrainStorm's lab.

Throughout the song, the rhythm pulses with a steady and infectious beat, Inspired by Tool's Danny Carey, aiming for a poly-rhythmic, far-eastern sticking that would drive the momentum forward. 

The dynamic shifts within the composition create a sense of tension and release, engaging the listener and keeping them captivated from start to finish.

The beat is skillfully crafted, with Keith paying special attention to paradiddles, polyrhythms, sub-divisions, and other drumming foundations with each bar playing a vital role in the overall composition. 

From cascading synthesizers to soaring melodies, the arrangement is masterfully balanced, allowing every element to shine and contribute to the song's enchanting atmosphere.

I believe this started to take form after we heard them. "Magnesia" is a mix of the influences left behind after experiencing:  "Mos 6581" and especially  "Comsat". 

This song played without a doubt, the biggest contributing factors of influence of them all.

Our musical composition takes inspiration from our experiences as an artist immersed in the dynamic atmosphere of the Fullmoon Festival, a biennial extravaganza in the Goa/Techno scene here in Germany. 

This event holds much more significance than just being a gathering; it serves as a thriving community of individuals and families who actively engage in this movement. While we often refer to them as "Neo-hippies," their essence surpasses any particular label.

What truly fascinated Sven and I about this community is the enchantment that permeates every aspect of their existence. They not only revel in dance and celebration but also exhibit genuine care for one another. It warms our hearts to witness the way they look after each other, especially the children. They go above and beyond by providing oversized, adult-sized ear protection to shield the delicate ears of the little ones. They make a concerted effort to bring the children along during appropriate hours, when it's not excessively crowded and the music is somewhat subdued, creating a collective dance amidst these meticulously adorned realms.

These individuals are more than just acquaintances; they form a tight-knit tribe. They share not only sustenance but also their sorrows, happiness, and life narratives. 

Together, they embark on a journey along the "Goa Highway," traveling from Hamburg to Berlin, tracing the festival's path. Not just limited to the Fullmoon Festival, this nomadic tribe can be discovered at Antaris, Fusion, and Spiritual Healing...

all of these events draw their presence.

With our composition, we strive to capture the very essence of this community, their spirit of unity, and their profound connection to the festival. 

Through music, we endeavor to convey the enchantment and strong sense of togetherness that define the Fullmoon Festival and the remarkable individuals who contribute to its special aura.

Behind the track: Listen in to Keith's pattern. It starts with just the snare and rhythmic hats going on a nice hypnotic ride. The break comes, and in comes the kick. 

With the beat now up and running, it is a steady cut time groove, with an anchoring kick pattern, that sticks with the bass, Queensryche-style of notoriously having the Bass and bass drum always hit together.

And it ends.... the exact oppiste of the snare intro, now it is only the kick and the hats.....on your way out.

In the realm of Toril, amidst the underwater wonders near The Green Sisters, Neria's story unfolded like the undulating currents of a hidden sea. Born into the embrace of this mystical archipelago, her origins were humble but destined for a variety of adventures beneath the waves.

Neria came into the world in a modest underwater grotto, a place surrounded by bioluminescent flora and the gentle hum of aquatic life. The Great Lighthouse of St. Ippen Island, a towering beacon even visible from the depths, watched over her childhood. Her days were spent exploring the vibrant coral reefs, listening to the ancient stories told by the triton elders, and dreaming of the mysteries that lay beyond the light's reach.

Her first taste of the extraordinary came at the age of ten when she ventured into the Whispering Caves, a mystical underwater cavern rumored to be alive with ancient magic. Amongst the phosphorescent flora and ethereal creatures, she discovered an abandoned elven artifact—a talisman that would later become a cherished possession.

As she grew older, curiosity led Neria beyond the familiar waters of The Green Sisters. Her travels took her along the seafloor, where she marveled at the diverse landscapes of the underwater realms and encountered creatures vastly different from her own. These journeys ignited a hunger for knowledge and adventure that would shape her future.

It was during her search for rare pearls in the Gulf of Cordell that fate intervened. In the luminescent glow of coral, casting an otherworldly aura, a figure appeared on the horizon. It was Ariann of Myth Nantar, a seasoned triton whose azure skin and scales reflected the beauty of the ocean depths. Despite her imposing appearance, Ariann swam with a weariness that bespoke a journey both arduous and long.

Neria, with the keen senses of her triton heritage, detected Ariann's approach. Intrigued by the sight of a fellow triton, albeit with unfamiliar azure hues, Neria swam out to greet her. The two tritons exchanged greetings, their voices carried by the currents in a melody known only to the denizens of the sea.

Ariann, though weary, spoke with the eloquence of one well-versed in the ways of the ocean. Neria, equally curious and welcoming, invited her new acquaintance to swim with her to the hidden enclave where her family resided. Under the cool, cerulean waters, they conversed about their respective homes, the wonders of the sea, and the secrets held by the Green Sisters.
