Terabyte Records’ latest offering comes in the form of Diffrent Music/Dispatch Recordings' very own Mauoq. With other releases on Flexout amongst other labels, Mauoq is taking the scene by storm one release at a time, and ‘Grey Scale/Itchy Way’ is by no means an exception to the rule. 


 The A-side, ‘Grey Scale’, begins by creating a striking atmosphere comprised of analog pads, creepy FX and a recurring piano stab leading you into inevitable darkness beyond. This is technical drum and bass as it should be, subtle yet monstrous bass lines boasting earth-shifting modulation coupled with punchy drums and mind bending sonic scenery.

‘Itchy Way’, the track on the flip, starts where the ‘Grey Scale’ leaves off. A simple drum beat and lovely pads with short references in the bassline indicates what is about to come. This is a track for the deep heads - warehouse vibes all round as Mauoq takes us down a crooked path filled with bizarre noises and warped bass vibrations. All in all, this is certainly one of Terabyte's strongest releases to date, and extends their already colourful catalogue to new horizons, dipping into the upper echelons of DnB producers of the moment.

It all started out as a codename for a collection of tracks we’d signed from a select group of talented emerging artists, each with their own distinct sound and style of production. As the idea took shape, so the quantity and quality of the music grew, culminating in a commitment to nine separate EP releases. From that point forth our aim was to come up with a twist whereby each release could stand out in its own right, but also form a part of something bigger... 


So along with the usual digital download components, each release will have its own limited edition lathe cut 10” vinyl dubplate featuring our two favourite tracks, lovingly presented in a hand made and numbered ‘jigsaw of art’ card sleeve. Collect all 9 dubplates and arrange the sleeves in a certain order to solve the puzzle and reveal a single larger image.
 
But it doesn’t stop there…

Those purchasing the vinyl will also get a selection of exclusive bonuses, such as a free WAV download of all tracks on the same release, plus bonus tracks that will not be made available on the digital release, and the odd Project Mohawk sticker thrown in for good measure. Felipe Antunes is Young:G, the latest in a growing line of talented Brazilian music producers to light up the drum & bass scene. Having started out making his own beats in 2010, Young:G has come a long way in a relatively short space of time, steadily progressing with a host of respected labels and amassing production credits like a Philatelist would collect prized stamps.   

Having reached the attention of us here at Broken Audio in late 2014, we are now ready to unleash Young:G’s first solo EP with us, and it surely marks his biggest release to date. With an opening track featuring the mighty vocal skills of true scene legends The Ragga Twins, backed up with a selection of cuts to showcase music as deep as it is uncompromising, it’s easy to see why this EP is already receiving extensive DJ and Press support.

mSdoS & Subsid - Love Is (Out 16th July)

At Detached, we've always tried to push new and fresh talent forward and for the third part of our 5 year celebrations, this ethos remains unchanged. We welcome back Echo Motion, Flicka, Karma Kingdom and Toss-T to the label while giving a warm welcome to Rozfresh and R4NS0M. This 6 track EP shows off the breadth and depth of the label over the years while also looking firmly towards the future.

Up first is man of the hour, Echo Motion. This talented artist has been on fire in the last few months, with stunning liquid on labels such as Celsius Recordings, Glitch Audio and Riddim Records. We are proud to be the home for one more arrow in his bow, in the form of 'Buried Treasure'. A classic liquid roller as he does best, with a warm bassline carrying a haunting vocal, this is sure to be on repeat through the following cold nights.

Next up is Flicka, who we welcomed to the label last year in the form of his free download, 'Muted'. 'Gator Skin' follows on from where Flicka left off. An eerie, Western-influenced guitar hook takes the lead while a sensual saxophone and smooth piano chords foreshadow a gritty roller with the perfect balance of weight and soul.

Rozfresh makes his debut to Detached with 'What', a tech-influenced stepper filled with his signature sound that's made us keep an eye on him. Watch out for the breakdown which provides a moment of unexpected calm before we're led back in this steam train of a track!

We proudly welcome back Italy-based Karma Kingdom for his first solo outing on the label. 'Cry Me A River' is a dramatic, jungle-influenced piece which carries the unusual sound palette that we've come to love from this artist throughout his career. This piece harkens back to the label's past whilst staying fresh and novel.

Our penultimate track is from Toss-T, who we welcomed to the label earlier this year with his beautiful free download, 'Melancholy'. 'Chronessence' showcases a new, darker side to Toss-T's sound, where he employs South Asian Carnatic instrumentation for a deep roller. The unconventional melodies make this a treat for those who enjoy fusions of incredibly different styles.

Finally, we welcome R4NS0M to the label for the closing, sombre notes of this various artist release. 'Scene: Anamnesis' envelopes us in from the first sound, with fiery crackles and airy atmospherics paving the way to a dark, old-school roller with a modern aesthetic and rugged basslines.

With our final release of the year, we'd like to wish everyone who's stayed with us for the last 5 years a very happy holiday season, and we hope you've enjoyed all we've had to offer! We've had a wealth of different styles on the label in the last 12 months, and this EP only adds more to the diversity which we are proud of upkeeping.
