IO envisions a glimpse into a time when it faced defeat and transformed into a grey being, devoid of its former brilliance. The vision unfolded with an eerie familiarity, presenting an image of a participant in a procession with thousands of others while monotonous, diluted, and lifeless and a loss of essence.

Defeat is track 7th of 10 for the IO-01 album. The song intends to create a feeling of revelation, struggle, and surrender. IO embraces the vision as a catalyst for change.

Gordon McInnes is from Glasgow and has lived there all of his life. He has been writing and producing music for the past 28 years. Gordon comes from a musical background. His late father was an ardent home producer in his spare time, writing and producing music in the style of New Age and ‘Gregorian Chants’ and has strongly influenced Gordon in his appreciation for the New Age Genre, Enya, Deep Forrest, Enigma. Gordon’s music has been heavily influenced by well known Trance acts such as 'Chicane' ‘Solar Stone’, ‘Blank and Jones’, ‘4-Strings’, ‘Space Brothers’ and ‘Rank 1’ all of which have influenced Gordon’s Trance projects whereby he goes by the alias ‘Goldengate’ which he started as a Trance project back in 2002.

Given the very recent events surrounding the war between Russia and Ukraine, the upheavals brought by Trump, and the dozens of ongoing conflicts around the world - definitely not the kind of stuff that lets you sleep soundly - we came up with this song!  
We were actually supposed to release a completely different track, a parody about voice assistants at home, but obviously, the theme of war and chaos ended up taking over.  
Enjoy the listen, and if you’re an Alexa & Co. user, stay tuned - our next song will surely get a sarcastic nod of approval from you! Let’s just hope that by the time it’s out, the conflict in Ukraine will have, in some way, come to an end.
