This week we welcome @gestaltlabel head honcho Steffan Todorovic - a selector that may love the deeper and more hypnotic side House even more than we do?!

The label is co-run by Željko & Steffan and they've been so consistent with their output that many of their releases have been featured in our premiere series (RIP) and our radioshows for the last few years. With an extremely busy release schedule just around the corner we thought it was high time the crew stepped up for an hour of power in the SB guest mix series so get it on and catch them vibes from the Estonian taste makers.

"We're currently working on our next two vinyl releases - both coming from Swedish producer Bobo. The first one is already up online, with 'Pt. II' scheduled for later in November. In-between these we have another two digi EPs; one from Boulderhead (founder of Mint Tea) and one from Calmos & Berzingue (fka ALVA). The former's more on the wobbly space-electro side, while the later backtracks more into downtempo jazzy house. We are also working towards a string of wax releases for 2021, as well as having 3 EPs scheduled on our ambient tape-label Hidden Assets. "

Next into the mix series is Josh Caffe - a man you will have no doubt come across at some stage in your musical journey - and if not, you'll almost certainly be grateful for the introduction now. 

It's fair to say Josh is a master of a number trades within music, having made a name for himself as a selector, playing shows from Panorama Bar, live with Hannah Holland, all the way up to one of the world's largest festival crowds, with his residency at BLOCK9 at Glastonbury. 

It's arguably equally, if not more so, as an artist which has enabled Josh to make his imprint on the Sonisphere. His unique production style combined with his vocals has seen him achieve a discography of highly coveted releases on his own label, Night Sheen, as well as outlets such as Nervous Records, Crosstown Rebels, BPitch and Dixon Avenue Basement Jam's to name a few. His collaborations with scene legends such as Honey Dijon and Paranoid London have also received much praise, and certainly worth checking out if you haven't done so already.

This mix encapsulates Josh's penchant and encyclopedic knowledge of selecting in dance music. Notes of Acid, House and Techno combine and echo throughout, providing one of the most intriguing dancefloor temptations we have received in a long while.

Dawn Again is a Melbourne based DJ, producer and record collector whose name is becoming synonymous with warm, fuzzy, soulful house. Labels from Love Above Records to Blind Jack has signed his highly functional dance cuts, and his most recent EP, released on Houseworx, is a statement that should see the producer receive more international acclaim. 2020 has been a busy year for him too, recently releasing the first record on his own label, Enjoyment Division. For this special Novelcast, he has gifted us with a special mix filled with tracks from the late ’90s and early ’00s.

#5 U.Q.REBITH W/ JUS-ED

Eddie Reynolds aka Tr One is a DJ and producer based in Carlow, Ireland. A much-respected figure within Ireland’s fertile electronic music scene, Reynolds cites the likes of Dublin’s D1 Recordings, Kraftwerk and J Dilla as early influences. Equally inspired by vintage sounds from Chicago and Detroit, he started dabbling in production in the early 00s alongside fellow Irish producer, Dean Feeney. As Tr One the duo released their first EP, ‘Inner Thoughts’ via the much-respected Fine Art imprint back in 2007. An auspicious slice of deep, acid-led techno, the title track quickly introduced the duo to a whole new audience outside of their native land.

Fast-forward over a decade and although the project may now consist of Reynolds only, his dedication to all things house, techno and electro remains unwavering. A prolific producer, Reynolds’ sounds have led him to some of his country’s most-renowned labels, including Lunar Disko, Apartment, Bodytonic and Pogo. What’s more, his music has earned the respect of numerous high-profile names, and has been remixed by a stellar cast including Sonja Moonear, Lerosa and John Heckle.

From a DJ perspective, Reynolds has played in all of Dublin’s foremost nightspots including Twisted Pepper, Wigwam, Twitch Belfast and District 8. A DJ with a truly eclectic vision, this is represented in the names he has played alongside. From Juan Atkins to DJ Stingray to Helena Hauff, Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Maurice Fulton and Steffi, Reynolds is a DJ capable of stepping up under any occasion.

Reynolds’ latest endeavours have brought him to scene-shaping British label Don’t Be Afraid (where last year he released one of his most-cherished releases to date, the magnificent ‘A Month Has Passed’ EP), as well as Lunar Disko, where he collaborated again, this time alongside compatriot R Kitt on the no-less-emphatic sounds of LDRX7. With future releases in the pipeline for Lunar Disko as well as numerous others to follow, these are exciting times for one of Ireland’s most consistent electronic music producers.
