For this composition, I use the Iwato scale, which is a musical scale that is similar to the Locrian mode (spelled 1 b2 b3 4 b5 b6 b7), The seventh mode of the major scale, is different in that it has no 3rd or 6th notes, thus making it pentatonic. Its spelling is therefore 1 b2 4 b5 b7. It is used in traditional Japanese music for the koto. It is a mode of the Hirajōshi scale.

Imagine.... A medieval castle town stretching around the defensive walls. The girl around 18, with long hair getting out from home. She grabs basket and a shawl and runs outside. It's an early morning, the light is cold and it is a bit misty... she goes down the street close to the wall, she has the tight dress with more open bottom. She begin to dance... This is modern dance. Something between classical and jazz with modern additions of head and hands movement. When she dance more and more girls join her dance with simultaneous movements...

The song has later appeared in different shapes like in Paul Simon`s American Tune.
Here is our version: a little different from the classical (with some blue tones from Oddvar) and some new composition with Norwegian folk music influence (Vagle)

The joy inside us - melodic, soulful and uplifting beats and is a reflection on the joy I have felt in my life. It feels good ;-)

Song of the Elven - this melds a fat bassline with jazzy guitar and sinister bell sounds. Think Santa's elves have taken over the party for the evening and have got into the punch...

Inside the storm - a follow on to Approaching the Storm (on my debut album). It's a reflection on what it feels like to be in the middle of a whirlwind and not knowing the way forwards.

And because I cannot end on dark notes, the last track is a simple lullaby no.6, named after the UDO Super 6 synth it was written on. Boy that synth is awesome... I have more coming using that toy :-)

In the yogic traditions, and the Buddhist commentarial tradition on which the Burmese Vipassana movement and the Thai Forest tradition rely, it is interpreted as a meditative absorption or trance, attained by the practice of dhyāna

For this composition, I am using the Ukranian Dorian scale. In music, the Romanian minor scale or Ukrainian Dorian scale or altered Dorian scale is a musical scale or the fourth mode of the harmonic minor scale. It is "similar to the dorian mode, but with a tritone and variable sixth and seventh degrees". It is related to both the Freygish and Misheberak scales and is used in Jewish music, "predominant in klezmer bulgarish and doina (doyne).When the Ukrainian Dorian scale functions in the synagogue, it is a mode known as the Mi sheberach (May He Who Blessed) or Av horachamon (Compassionate Father). Arab and Greek scholars give other names to the scale: Nikriz (نكريز) and Aulos, respectively."

"The pitches of the Mi Shebeyrekh [cantorial] mode correspond roughly to a Dorian mode with a raised fourth (for example, D, E, F, G♯, A, B, C, or if Katythian Enharmonic mode of Harmonic Minor ♭4:D♭, E, F, G♯, A, B, C); alternately, it could be described as a variant of the Lydian mode, deriving instead from the harmonic minor scale, rather than from the major scale. This is a track I put together real quick for a music podcast called The Cosmic Bos MMC (Monthly Music Challenge) They have a song of the month challenge where you compose and submit a song each month and they play it on the podcast with the goal of releasing an album at the end of the year.
