There are days when you are overcome by melancholy and need to reflect on what is really important in life. It was the same with Aquamarine. This piece emerged from a small idea on the Rodes piano, followed by drums, guitar and bass. No samples, everything recorded live and always in one piece. 80 bpm is already a challenge and so this piece of music simply gets a somewhat bulky and at the same time flowing mysticism through the playing. The moment was captured perfectly. Not slick and midi-slick, but pure playing. Simply honest music. Katrin, the woman at my side, loved it immediately and found herself in it. This time we’re taking a different approach, focusing on Tom’s chest voice and music that fits the mood. "No Man’s Sky" is a mix of cosmic and intimate: it uses space imagery (void, stars, silence, infinity) to talk about inner or relational distance. It’s not necessarily a romantic relationship, it could be between two people, two friends, two souls. But the message is that even in the midst of emptiness and distance, there’s an unbreakable bond.
The “No Man’s Sky” here isn’t the video game, but a metaphor for a vast, boundless space where no one can live. Yet inside this “no man’s sky” there’s still a connection: two hearts beating or dreaming together, despite everything.
There’s strong melancholy (silence, coldness, broken stars), but also hidden hope: the idea that connection endures beyond distance.
It’s an atmospheric ballad, suspended between science fiction and the deepest human feeling.
