Variations on a theme by Reinhold Moritzevich Glière.

I heard a piece by Glière (on which these variations are loosely based) a long time ago (thirty years ago?). I am unsure which of his pieces these variations relate to (I am embarrassed to say). Possibly, it was amongst his 25 préludes pour piano : en 5 cahiers : op. 30. 

Scholars of music have every right to condemn me, for my failure to remember which of his many wonderful pieces, has been so shamelessly plagiarised, in this attempt at variations.
