CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

ABAT: I wouldn't go as far as to say that our scene is bad, but unfortunately, for the Industrial genre, the scene is non-existent. We only have Donu D and me at the moment, and this is on a country level. Currently, we are just two active DJs/producers of this genre here. We've searched for people who share the same vision and way of thinking as we do but to no avail. Sadly, it feels like we're on a stranded island, but nothing will stop us. Even if we live 400 kilometres apart, we are ambitious, and we strive to bring this genre to the underground scene as soon as possible, despite the challenges that are ahead 🖤🫡 

Despite the Industrial genre being almost zero, our Hard Techno community is waaaay bigger and striving; although it's the "commercial" type, at least we have this 😁👌

It has made me overcome many barriers. I am walking on thin ice in our country because nobody actually listens to Industrial Techno. Our scene is filled with commercial Hard Techno stuff, and I highly dislike that genre now. Currently, I am trying to revive the Industrial scene once started by Donu D and Sergiu TH. Luckily for me, I still have Donu D as a friend and colleague, as he is still active in the scene!

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

ABAT: The set is straightforward, as all of my sets hit directly in your face as soon as an intro from a selected culture I admire ends. This podcast contains the Serbian chant "Terrifying Judgment", which adds a nice Orthodox touch.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

ABAT: The set reflects my mixing style, which includes around 30 tracks played throughout 60 minutes, which for some people may sound like too much. I am always running out of time, even before the time limit, because I am transitioning very fast from one track to another to keep the energy level very high and to make people dance to exhaustion! I want to say that mastering the EQ faders is a must for everyone who wants to play Bochka!
