This song was originally conceived on the piano, much like many of the songs on Into the Light, and re-worked in the studio to produce the version that you're listening to here. The concept behind this positive, and uplifting tune, is finding the light in times of darkness, when often times it feels fleeting.

Temporary Light

Duality is the second single off of Into the Light and is a synth-heavy drum & bass / instrumental hip-hop tune that ebb and flows between half time and double time, with parallel themes that echo throughout the song. This track's inspiration is similar to the overall inspiration of the entire album, focusing on the Duality of life. The quote from George Yung's father from the movie Blow sums it up quite well: "Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on."

Duality

Extinguished Light is the second and final synth odyssey on Into The Light. It's a melancholy tune that wraps up the ebb and flow theme of the album with a contemplative melody that when played circular with the album, from front to back, brings us from the dark, back into the light. This track is again, an attempt to capture the analog warmth and generative nature of the ambient genre. It was recorded in one single session, with very little editing or post-production, to try and capture this piece in a real and raw form, inspired by so many ambient works I've been exposed to throughout the years.

Dreaming in Analog, one of two synth-inspired space odysseys on the album. These two synth odysseys are inspired by the ambient music I was turned onto over the course of the pandemic from our weekly Holotropic Happy Hour live streams. I was only marginally exposed to this genre prior to these streams, but I gained an appreciation for chill, meditative, and often trance inducing nature of its free form, ever-evolving droning tones. In an attempt to capture the analog warmth and generative nature of the genre, this track was recorded in one single session, with very little editing or post-production work in an effort to leave the track in a real and raw form. And while I have limited access to analog hardware, I did my best to use software synthesizers which are modeled after their hardware counterparts, hence the title “Dreaming” in Analog.

Dreaming In Analog

Holdin' Onto Me is the first Chando tune that ever featured live vocals. I originally released this track back in 2019, but it's gotten a major face lift since then, here what's changed. The drums were updated to match the rest of the album, I re-recorded synth line in the middle, gave it a new mix & master, but most importantly, the vocals have all been re-recorded, with 3-part harmonies featured at the end of this track! Holdin' Onto Me is one of two tracks on Into the Light that feature live vocals by yours truly.
