I remember reading somewhere that americans do not use electric kettles often because their electrical grid runs on a lower voltage than most of the world. This would slow down the boiling process to roughly double the time while using the common heating elements in cheap kettles.

When Eli returned from America, he came bearing gifts. Sadly, those gifts were cheap snacks bought from gas stations in Florida. None of this seems like a particularly good idea. There’s mystery meat, misguided gummies and peculiar Peeps to sample as well as something Paul is pretty sure is spoiled. Elsewhere in the show, there are more musical musings to be had when Silverman’s Platter showcases a Thunderbirds themed rave track, a rap from Barnsley Bill and a vinyl record full of nothing but laugh tracks. Along the way, the Cheap Chaps get lost in way too much vulgar punnery, create the “Wacky Boys” sitcom, and barely keep their s*** together. Enjoy!

For some strange reason, Paul and Eli have decided to take CheapShow out of London and perform a live show at The Leicester Comedy Festival. Recorded on Sat 25th Feb at The Firebug Bar in Leicester, the Cheap Chaps bring their usual rude, rowdy and unruly antics to the horror of a real, live audience! They are also joined by comedian and CheapShow alumni Tom Mayhew who will probably regret coming the moment he sets foot on stage. It’s (almost) an hour of mad rants, unusual Moog tunes, Price of Shite items and even some visual gags that don’t quite translate to an audio format! A typical noisy s***show!

Ep 322: Live from The Leicester Comedy Festival 2023

The League of Snacks (and Crisps) is dead! Long Live “Snax Starz”, the exciting new replacement segment for 2023! It was meant to be a simpler premise, but as ever on CheapShow, things get complicated, and all of a sudden there are snack palaces, anthropomorphised crisps and a pool house. This week’s inductee is the much-requested Doritos Burger King Flame Grilled Whopper flavour. As you can imagine, it goes about as well as expected. Eli has some brand-new Tales from the Dance Floor stories to tell and to say Paul is unimpressed is a major understatement and rubs him up the wrong way. Finally, Eli is excited to head back to the Country Urban Noodle Test Lab Kitchen with a cheeky little noodle he’s been dying to sample. Of course Paul ruins it with a new character, but thankfully for Eli, said character ends up breaking Paul’s brain! Good. He deserves it!

Ep 326: Snax Starz

Paul reopens his candy store this week and invites Eli in to sample his latest sweet offerings. Surprisingly, they’ve never covered jellies before (or jams, if you prefer) and they thought they’d look for the cheapest to see if they pass muster. Will a Vimto or Slush Puppie jelly be any good, or will they be embarrassed by the Hartley’s brands? CheapShow intends to find out! It’s also been a while since we last had a Tales from the Shop Floor on the show and so the cheap chaps dip their toes into another tale of woe from the world of commerce. Before you think that this all seems pretty normal, bear in mind that in this episode, Eli tries to convince his new “mink” character isn’t a total embarrassment and Paul would rather come up with a load of mucky James Bond film baddies. Bloody idiots.

Ep 327: Silversquirt

It’s an emotional rollercoaster this week on CheapShow with bitter rants, over-excited expostulations, sober moments of clarity and confusing arguments! It begins with Eli desperately trying to cram another new character in the show and only gets more unhinged from there. Paul is not impressed with Eli’s increasingly poor creative choices and there is going to be tears before bedtime, or at least by the end of the episode. In Charity Shop Showcase, Eli has sourced two very unusual discoveries for Paul to peruse. Whilst one of them is conceptually very confusing, the second one tickles all of Paul’s fancies. To end the episode, it's a bumper sized Price of Shite, with six items to delight and bemuse. Will this be Eli’s finest hour? Knowing Paul’s luck, then yes, it could very well be!

Ep 328: This Is Not What A Podcast Should Do

It’s Eli’s view that Paul only wants to do another Price of Shite segment again this week because he’s desperate to catch up on P’twings. Not true. Paul picked another Price of Shite selection because his bedroom is full of PO Boxes, and he wants to make some ruddy space! No matter who you believe, at least Paul and Eli are pitted against each other this time, making for yet another hotly contested round of the age old CheapShow favourite! It’s packed with tat, crap, and a few things of genuine interest too. Less interesting are the snacks vying to get into the illustrious Snack Palace. Will Peatos slip in through the front door, or be cast out onto the street? And what about that hot sauce popcorn? How will it be judged? You can find out in this week’s jolly romp.

Ep 329: Peas, Popcorn And Ptwings

When it comes to cup noodles, we sometimes wonder if they are so preoccupied with whether of not they could make wild new flavours and didn’t stop to think if they should. On this week’s CheapShow, Paul and Eli are about to find out if Nissin’s Cup Noodles have gone too far. Can a “breakfast flavoured” noodle be anything other than disgusting muck? Will Nissin’s winning streak finally end on this very episode? You are going to have to listen to find out! Before they can dive in, the Cheap Chaps have a few choice vinyl platters to wade though first. There’s an odd collection of music curios to sample, with offerings from Smiths Crisps, The Bolton Bullfrog and a reggae track packed with farts! Has Eli finally met his match? Usually, he only has to fend off the annoyances of ONE Paul, but this week, he is up against THREE! Ep 333: Three Pauls And A Silverman

The sun is out and Paul and Eli have no intention of recording this week’s episode indoors. Rather than sweat it out in the House of Pickles, Paul recommends a wander around Stanmore Country Park and Eli willingly agrees. After all the drama of Urinevision 2023, a nice relaxing walk in the woods of North London seems like the perfect antidote the cheap chaps desperately need. Over the course of one long, hot Summer’s day, Paul and Eli will tackle cheesy cheap eats, they’ll attempt to value some Transformers themed Price of Shite items, Paul will discover that wearing shorts and traversing nettle bushes don’t mix and Eli will become obsessed with the word “pasturey”. Expect the usual arguments, confusing comedic scenarios and, with a bit of luck, a swing to have an accident on! Join us on a sunny day walk that will absolutely, positively be blessed with good fortune…

Ep 337: Cow's Parsley & Lamb's Lettuce

There's just one week before we reveal our Los Angeles adventures to the podcast world, so before then, let's dive into some more good, old-fashion Cheapshow goodness! Firstly, an email to the podcast shines a whole new light on a Silverman's Platter track they discussed a few weeks ago. Paul and Eli learn a little more about "Dog and Bone" by Johnny and the Ansaphones, that both surprises and delights! The Cheap Chaps also cover a game for Gannon's Golden Games that is a spin on a VERY familiar classic. Wordle may have some competition. However, on the off chance that it's not very interesting, Paul has a pretty awful plan to try and sex the segment up. Finally, Eli is on Off Brand/Brand Off duties when McCoy's crisps goes up against a much cheaper interloper. Beware the Quirf!

Ep 356: A Log In The Gob

Years in the planning, CheapShow is finally leaving the UK and heading across the Atlantic ocean to explore the city of angels itself, Los Angeles! In a very special episode, Paul and Eli explores the many nooks and crannies of LA in an adventure that takes them over an extremely large, and particularly varied city. Along the way, they'll take a walk along Santa Monica pier, explore 3rd Street Promenade for a thrift store, hunt for the Winkie billboard location, try to escape Hollywood and a few other odd surprises too. Paul thinks being in LA makes him a better person, Eli doesn't believe it and just wants to find a place to have a smoke! It's Part One of "The LA Trilogy" of CheapShow adventures!
