Heavy periods. At least 50% of women struggle with them enough to, well, absolutely skip wearing white pants during that time of the month, and for 1 in 6 women, they’re severe enough to significant impact quality of life – from disruptive, frequent trips to the bathroom to change pads or tampons, to serious at-work period accidents, to staying home from work social engagements, and basically living life for fear of public period accidents.

#302 Finding Balance For A Successful Year!

Its very common that I speak to someone who believes they have low thyroid function or "hypothyroidism", and they are not getting help from conventional medicine. You may get TSH tested, which is almost irrelevant, and then sent home after being told "everything looks normal". But I believe many of us know our own body better then any doctor - we have lived here for many years. 
So I wanted to remind you of these tests that I have spoken of before. These 4 tests can be done at home with low cost and are non invasive/pain free. You can do these tests, track your data and then discover your thyroids health for yourself. Then you can take action on supporting your body, confidently, after listening to what it is trying to tell you. 
These tests have been used since the 1800s by many experts in the field of thyroid health and are deemed to be better then serum testing.

#337 4 at home tests you can do to assess your thyroid function.

I am so excited to bring you my friend and colleague Paul Robinson in this podcast episode to discuss the many problems with the current ways we treat and test for low thyroid or hypothyroidism. Paul also shared some of his story with us and how being undertreated for hypothyroidism basically destroyed his life. We also got into the specifics of T4, T3 and Reverse T3 to hopefully help you understand and take more control of your thyroid and health issues. And what do you do if your doctor won't help you. Paul Robinson became ill with hypothyroidism in his late twenties. Over the next thirty-plus years, Paul accumulated a wealth of knowledge on thyroid and adrenal dysfunction. His scientific background enabled him to fight through the morass of misinformation and recover his health, and help many many others.

At first, Paul was put on the most common thyroid treatment - Levothyroxine (also known as Synthroid or T4). However, the majority of his symptoms remained, much like they do for many on T4-therapy. Over time he became even more ill, with both low cortisol and low thyroid symptoms. This then spurred Paul to put everything he learned on paper - writing his 3 books. Paul wrote 'The CT3M Handbook' as a companion book to 'Recovering with T3' to explain more about raising cortisol levels if needed. And Paul wrote his third book ‘The Thyroid Patient’s Manual’.  This book covers all types of thyroid medications (T4, T4/T3, NDT, and T3).

The “nocebo effect,” the placebo effect’s malevolent brother --- so with placebos, the mere expectation that treatment will help, brings a reduction of symptoms, even if the patient is given a sugar pill.
