So here we have it, the final release from us at Yamatai Records for 2022, and what a year it has been!

After almost a year of planning, with countless hours of scouting fresh talent to represent Yamatai, back and forth with art designers to get the right design and multiple final track touch-ups we can finally introduce the 20 track monster the 'Genesis VA'.

This VA includes lots of amazing upcoming talent in the Drum & Bass scene all of who have their own unique sound and style. Featuring artists who have released on Delta 9, Engage Audio, Program, Forbidden Frequencies, 4 Corners, Sinful Maze and Incurzion Audio we have a very very talented bunch of artists on this VA.

To make the thank you even better for the support this year the 'Genesis' VA is a free download with two release dates, starting on December the 16th and then the final release on January 6th.

I would personally like to thank all the artists involved in this huge project and for being so cooperative, also a shout out to Trigo Designs for whipping up such a beautiful album cover but also a massive thank you to R3IDY [R3 Masters] for being patient, and getting these tracks sounding incredible.

I am super excited to finally share this project with you, and I can't wait to see what you think :)

Grammy Award winning act DEEP FOREST are set to release new remix package featuring artists Fakear, Gaudi, Onuka, Katuchat, Pixelord, Sweatson Klank and Fytch due for release on the 3rd February via The Playground Records. Bringing together highly skilled beatmakers from a diverse background, the release manages to show off a unique sonic palette including electronica, experimental, dub, jazz, Drum n Bass, Garage, House and Techno genres.

In 1995 Deep Forest won the prestigious Grammy Award for their album Boheme. They were the first French artists to win a Grammy Award and to this day, they only share this honour with Daft Punk. With the distinct ethnic-driven sound of Deep Forest, Eric Mouquet belongs to the few unique pioneers of electronic music. His highly recognizable sounds defined the concept of world music and shaped the all-new sound of ethnic-electronica. Since the very first album of Deep Forest, Eric Mouquet loved using and exploring samples: “I experimented a lot with parts of sounds, songs and voices. This technique contributes the heart and soul to the very own sound of Deep Forest.”

At the fresh age of 14, Chew Lay had a life changing experience at the height of the Old Skool and Jungle era (‘95-‘97) during a party at The Manor in Bournemouth. Blinded by the rush of his first ever rave, he knew from that moment onwards, he had to become a part of the growing jungle scene!

In 1999 he started his music career DJ-ing D’n’B which gave him a deeper understanding of the music scene and led him to explore his hidden talents of creating his own sounds and into the world of production. 

His sound has continued to change and evolve alongside his own personal growth and evolution journey which has come with its challenges and creativity blocks over the years and resulted in many unfinished tracks. But this time also allowed him to play around with producing different genres and figure out the direction he wanted his music to progress in. 

Fast forward to 2021 after a couple of years’ hiatus from production, Chew got inspired by his love for Melodic Breakbeat and House Music and with a fresh perspective and new wave of energy, he created and completed 12 tracks, each one with a totally unique sound and vibe! 

Chew is dedicated to creating tracks for the awakening masses that are up-lifting and euphoric but that also assist in the the evolution of human consciousness with his soon to be released meditation tracks.
