iu takahashi - Blink / Landscape

The new self-titled release by Feeling Flying is from Andrew Thomas and Bevan Smith, a collaboration of two like-minded musicians, focused on improvisation, experimentation and minimal sound that allowed them to create a unique expression deep within the process and to explore dynamic and ever-evolving compositions. The end results are an organic and continuous musical dialogue of sonic, interpretive landscapes.

Feeling Flying is released on CD and limited to 50 copies, they each feature vintage linen book covers and each issue is individually constructed with hand-cut collages and mixed-media artworks, and each copy is hand-numbered and packed inside glassine bags. Feeling Flying - Shimmer 4

The joint album of the July in January and Dvory projects, entitled Warm Hands, presents the listener with a palette of harmonies and melodies saturated with sleepy aesthetics with an admixture of contemplative ambient created with the help of vocals, synthesizers, field recordings, and guitar. On top of all these rich textures are framed by languid improvisations on the trumpet with psychedelic effects.

The album is dedicated to the bodily sensations of the space surrounding a person, filled with a sense of warmth as the main source of life. The joint material of the projects was recorded at the sleepy festival PoluDrema on November 17, 2023, in the Sklad 3 club.

July in January is a warm drone ambient project by Georgy Orlov-Davydovsky from Moscow. Smooth melodic elements, textures and field recordings, rare rustles, and quiet rhythms. This music is for dreamers. Time freezes, leaving only calm and concentration for the consciousness.

Dvory is a collective of Antip Suratov and Vladimir Sapunov, originally based in the city of Tver for a long time. The project's music is a subtle combination of guitar, effects, and trumpet, which creates a mood of some melancholy like dark jazz.

The Scrapbook album consists of 24 thematic sound sketches. The composition is based on superimposing different sound layers on top of each other, as in scrapbooking. The author used various samples from old new-age cassettes and vinyl records, tape loops, field recordings, various noises, guitars, and piano.

1. Good Morning. Every day is a new life.

2. Birds of Nevada. By the sound of the birds, you will know that you are not at home.

3. Light Rail. You recognize life when you see movement.

4. Cyclone. That feeling when a hurricane rages a hundred miles away, and an unsettling wind and rain hit your window.

5. Period I. Listening to the water.

6. Gesture. Body language speaks volumes about what words leave unsaid.

7. Noh. We are actors in the theatre of life, having forgotten who we truly are.

8. Magic Night. Magic is an unknown science.

9. Differentiation of Feelings. To cope with emotions, you must first understand what you feel.

10. Period II. Water is time.

11. Ceremony. Life is made up of rituals. But any ritual loses its meaning when its essence is forgotten.

12. Portrait of the Moon. The image of the Moon represents peace and tranquility.

13. The Sands of Time. Time is the most irresistible force in the universe.

14. Initiation. Only a pure devotee of the Lord can give the Mantra of liberation.

15. Period III. Water is Wisdom.

16. Fata Morgana. The most significant difference between people is how deeply they are immersed in illusions.

17. Miniature Lamps. You can be a small lamp, shining even when the Sun of Truth is hidden.

18. Fire Walk with Me. Sometimes it gets scary, but keep holding the torch of Truth.

19. Pollination. Material nature is God's smile.

20. Period IV. Water Cleanses.

21. Preparing to Leave. Without renunciation, there is no freedom.

22. Pocket Watch. Live in harmony with time.

23. Terminal. Don't get too comfortable in this world; it's just a brief stopover.

24. Good Night. Every night is a little death.

These lost tape loops were sent to us by Lee over 3 years ago and somehow were shelved and forgotten. Upon rediscovery, we fell in love with these tender recordings and offered the 3 short tape movements up for remix. Multiple artists both national and international replied and submitted their beautiful renditions. Please enjoy these reworks that total over a 50 minute journey through the music of Lee Chapman.
