Where Did They Come From?

A study of Selemao or Fon Ngiew, a Northern traditional folk song deconstructed by Markov Algorithm in Max/MSP programming.

Selemao is composed by anonymous, considered as the best known tune in Northern traditional music and in Thai musical culture. Literally, "Selemao" is originally Shan language (are a Tai ethnic group of Southeast Asia)

เสเลเมา/ฟ้อนเงี้ยว (Selemao/Fon Ngiew) programmed for piano (2019)

Tanapon Chiwinpiti 
(b. 1992) is largely self-taught Thai-born sound artist, sound engineer, computer programmer, visionary, pianist, improviser and composer.

He attractively works on technology, algorithm-based approach in composition to explore a new prototype of digital age music from 21st century. He graduated in Music Composition at College of Music, Mahidol University from 2011-2016. The year of 2014-15, He attended to study computer music and design (Sonology Department) at Kunitachi College of Music Tokyo, Japan as an exchange student.

He studied piano under a guidance of Nithi Kornkaewsakuldej, Jamkad Saen-ngamwong, Pohnchanan Suravichai and Satoko Inoue. Music Composition with Roger W. Petersen, James J. Ogburn, Julia Lake Bozone, Tyler Capp, Shintaro Imai and Cort Lippe. Computer & visual programming with Shintaro Imai, Cort Lippe, Takayuki Rai and Shu Matsuda. Sound technology, live sound reinforcement and recording with Ruangkarn Tatiyasuk, Pongpat Chuapibul and Satoru Kobayashi.

He attended several lectures and workshops conducted by Dirk P. Haubrich, Mie Yanashita, Zygmunt Krauze, Zhou Long, Yann Robin, John Corigliano, Paul Patterson, Kee Yong Chong, Jean-Luc Darbelley, Mara Gibson, Martin Jaggi, Jōji Yuasa, Ums'n Jip Duo, Hans Tutschku, Enno Poppe, Peter Eötvös, Joe Hisaishi and David Rosenboom. He also has collaborations with Haruna Tsuchiya, Tomomi Kubo, Takashi Miyamoto, Noriko Tsuboi, Akiyuki Okayasu, Ensemble TACETi, Michael Hall, Ums'n Jip Duo, Inflexio Duo, Mahidol University String Quartet, Salaya String Ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, Salaya Saxophone Ensemble, Pan Pacific Ensemble, Kammerorchester Basel, Collegium Novum Zurich(as a personal assistance) etc. He was a finalist in Basel Composition Competition, Best Award of Ryuichi Sakamoto's Sound Installation Competition《IS YOUR TIME》collaboration with Shiro Takatani at NTT ICC Tokyo Japan. Grand Prize ACSM116 in Acousmonium Music at CCMC 2017 Japan, a finalist Young Composers in Southeast Asia 2013 by Goethe Institute, and Distinguished Prize for Music Composition of Young Thai Artist Award 2013, 2015-17 etc.

Presently, He is focusing on “Parametricism and Digitalism” practical based-concept embodies an Artificial Intelligence relevant, augmented reality/hardware/VR, data science, algorithmic approach, mathematical models, spatial music, creative coding and design through particular inspiration of Zaha Hadid's foreseen architectures. Regarding to Asian concept of beauty in Japanese and Thai aesthetics and applied Trans-humanism ideology.

Events:
- Received a commission from the American violist Michael Hall to premiere a composition at Thailand International Composition Festivals 2012(TICF). Call for music「Game Music 2 for synthesizer」performed by himself in TICF July 2015.
- A Finalists of Young Composers in Southeast Asia Competition & Festival (2013) collaborated with Ensemble Mosaik under a conductor and composer, Enno Poppe.
- Grand prize from the 1st Annual Mahidol University, College of Music Composition Prize for String Quartet "Streichquartett Nr.1" (2014)
- his psycho-electronique"project number 1" for cello and computer with live-video by Takashi Miyamoto was performed in Sonic Interaction 2014 vol.2 at Kitazawa Town Hall, Tokyo JP 
- "...au/one.sound..." for ondes martenot was performed by Tomomi Kubo in her "Ondes Martenot Recital" at Ryogoku Monten Hall, Tokyo JP (2015)
- "microtalk.bandpass" for snare drum and electronics will be perform  by TACETi ensemble directed by Piyawat Louilarpprasert, a classmate composer (TH).
- New work for his piano advisor "Satoko Inoue"
- He has a long-collaboration with Japanese artist, Akiyuki Okayasu.
- "glaciereskimo" for orchestra was given a world premiere by Kammerorchester Basel under the baton of Franck Ollu at Basel Composition Competition (CH).
- "data.protons" was "honor mentioned" in Forum Wallis Festival (CH).
