I'm so honored and happy to announce this week's mix from an icon of dance culture, a father of Balearic beat, a previous resident at Ibiza's Amnesia, and an ever-unpredictable DJ and producer who never fails to impress, the legendary DJ Alfredo (Ibiza).

Alfredo Fiorito, the Argentinian-born artist, who emigrated to Ibiza in 1976, helped to grow the popularity of dance music on the island. He also inspired the Balearic beat movement and influential club nights such as Shoom, after Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway and Johnny Walker caught a set of his at Amnesia in 1987 and returned to the UK feeling energized to recreate the experience at home.

His deeply eclectic sets call on all forms of disco, dub und afro, pop, soul and jazz, classical and contemporary house, and, of course, plenty of obscure Balearic gems, old and new, and everything in-between.  The brilliance of his record digging and famously steamy selections encompass the true essence of hedonism and inclusivity of Ibiza. 

The club scene on Ibiza, and the dance music industry in general, owe him a great deal of gratitude.

Last month on the 13th of October, we invited house music hero & all round good guy Derrick Carter to bring his 'Derrick Does Disco' party to the Sub Club helping to celebrate GLASGAY! 20th Anniversary.

The source of many a man-crush (particularly from our local DJ geeks and record freaks) our sexy affair with Derrick has spanned a good couple of decades. Perhaps it’s his desirable physique, that intense beaded brow around 2am or his disarmingly charming manliness from the moment we met him off the plane.

Either way we’re always hot for him and so was everyone in the crowd who joined us as we got down and dirty in a darkened room and showed each other some serious loving, with no strings attached till 3am.

With Derrick in control for the full four hours we had to get the roadblocks out. Here is an hour of this amazing set specially picked out by the one man block party himself.
