Just that Phil Solem is a genius songwriter with gratitude to Andy Dee doing George Harrisson, , Amy Tobin all the strings and mellotron master Donnie LaMarca. My dear wife Beverly Rae Roath passed away 5 years ago. When she got angry with me she would take the Amtrak Empire Builder to her parents in Montana, and tell me to pack my shit and get out. But 10 days later she always came back. The one time though? I called Phil Solem and this very Beatlesque song came out of a marathon 26 hour writing session where I learned why Phil is such a Virtuoso songwriter, musician and co-producer.

Zannman & the core members of #Prince's #NPG throw down...   As for you aspiring young producers? Many of the Grammy winning session players and producer mentor's I have worked with will often reflect even years later that "the first live take with the whole band playing together is often the best and the one that makes it to vinyl". Certainly true with this crew. The four of us ran down Tommy's chart once for about a verse or two, Andrew hit the red button and the live 1st take in 2015  plus a few of my overdubs 7 years later are this track. The outro? I just got outta the way...

I have known and loved Liv since years ago in the 70's when our college band #KIDDOG opened for a few of his shows in the Pittsburgh area including our home club at the time, the legendary Tin Pan Alley in #WheelingWV. That tri-level venue  was built and became a New York mafia hangout known as Zellar's SteakvHouse in the prohibition era. We opened  for Liv there as well and he and I became musical friends over coffee and brandy in the downstairs acoustic room.

Over time?  I vividly recall a visit to his home west of #Boston where on that day he was building a birdbath on the back deck and Maggie brought home a pie we shared. Many years later when Maggie went down another road, Liv wrote this beautiful plea for her to simply forget all the marital strife and Just Come Home... Sadly it all ended in a 2003 amicable divorce...

Originally written in 1995 after church burnings in the South it is even more relevant today after the outrageous police abuses in Ferguson,Baltimore, NYC, Minneapolis & elsewhere by bigoted racists. If racial unity will ever be achieved in this country ALL must realize crime is a poverty problem not a race problem, police must "serve & protect" not abuse & neglect and love in the spirit of God and Peace must prevail.. Glen Campbell recorded this song, often touted as the best country ballad of all time in 1968 when I was a high school freshman. Little did I know that 20 years later Glen would become my publisher and that I would get to record with an All Star background choir in Nashville in 1990.  Now and then inspiration and magic strikes like lightening. This is my tribute to Glen, who among several other Nashville legends mentored me and influenced everything I have done since as a songwriter, producer, artist, and recording professional. Tom Tucker Sr, Alex Oana, and I were mixing, Adrienne and Laura were hanging out, and in walks Cool Funk, He had recently been introduced to me by Jimmy Russell & J.D.Steele as a Sammy Davis Jr. impersonator. We were almost done mixing Get The Funk Outta My Way (incidentally the most played WHB track over 7 years) when Cool Funk Insisted we give him a track and one take. Damn am I glad we said YES! Because his 6 minute hilarious Ad Lib made that song the biggest hit of the entire WHB Experience over seven years of being secretly posted here on SoundCloud. 

     THEN, as if that wasn't brilliant enough, he asks for another track and proceeds to perfectly describe the concept of The Warehouse Barbarians project and Experience in terms only a Master Beat Poet, Rapper, or Hip-Hop Artist could.

     And So here to introduce the concept and vibe behind the Warehouse Barbarians Experience (as it was between 1993-97), Give It Up!!! for Cool Funk. Last I could get any info someone said he is a DJ in Denver...Cool Funk...you out there somewhere Bro? A Minnesota tribute to The Allman Brothers and Southern Rock, this classic tale of a man trying to win back the woman he loves is musically punctuated by the guitar work of writer Paul Mayasich, the etherial lap steel his Dough Dros. partner Andy Dee, and the most gorgeous mandolin solo I have ever heard in a rock song played by 3-time Grammy winner and father of Newgrass, Sam Bush. Serendipity- In September of 1972 my long journey to the end of this project began with a meeting with Jim Seals & Dash Crofts in Athens Ohio. A few months later I became an adherent of the Baha'i Faith. In the years that followed I began meeting the many musicians, writers, and producers I would later mentor with to learn the crafts of song writing, production, engineering, and advanced musicianship. That week in 1972, Seals & Crofts "Summer Breeze" was at the top of the charts. The mandolin Sam Bush plays on Vidalia is that same mandolin, acquired from Dash Crofts in recent years....strange, but true. The Barbarians this day in September of 2008? Michael Bland, Leland Sklar, Paul Mayasich, Andy Dee, Donnie LaMarca, Sonny T., Billy Franze,  Kevin Bowe, and Zannman.  Sam Bush was recorded at The Cabin South in Brentwood, TN.
