This is my third release as a solo artist, drawn from a time when I lived in Istanbul with my then girlfriend, we were backpacking across Europe...￼￼

4 better or 4 worse

Fresh off of his first solo set at Caliroots Festival, Bay area saxophonist/songwriter, Chris Del Camino, harnesses his dualistic emotions of pleasure and pain in his latest single, “Venenosa (ft. Nell Widmer)”. The eclectic nature of the Alt./Latin Pop single creates a world where things feel right even if they’re wrong.
A singular enchanting flute line intoxicates listeners at the start of the track. Venenosa, in English translating to ‘poisonous,’ is a follow-up to the first chapter of Chris Del Camino’s story, “Spring jam,” where the main character meets a woman at a party who helps him ease the pain of a broken heart.
“This song is what happens when that girl at the party hits things off and picks up here with Venenosa,” says Chris.
Largely produced by Del Camino himself, Nell Widmer, a French Pop/RnB/Electro-house singer, features on the track. Nell and Chris listened to each other’s releases and shared the love on social media at the inception of the pandemic. Nell had brought up the idea of potentially collaborating and
            
both agreed to begin producing their ideas. Nell’s sultry, yet coy vocals are the perfect complement to Venenosa’s dark and sub-bass-driven beat. The track was co-produced and mixed by Luis Cancion.
“I was in the kitchen when the melodies for the verse, pre-chorus and chorus came into my head. I quickly pulled together a beat that I thought would be a dope blend of drill and dub reggae. I had a title, a verse lyric, Nell helped flesh the lyric out for the pre, came up with her fire bilingual French/Spanish verse and the rest is history,” Chris says.
Del Camino, who is of Mexican-American heritage, pays attention to the importance of his mestizo complex as an artist. For listeners of Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Major Lazer, Future Bass, Latinx Pop, Alt. Pop, his influences are limitless, largely reflecting his blended heritage.
