Above & Beyond Live at Madison Square Garden (ABGT100 - Main Set)

With his new mix compilation Pharmacy: Phase 4 in the Top 5 on Beatport's trance and psy trance charts, and his single Terminus hitting Top 20, Christopher Lawrence bounces into November for Rush Hour 080.

This months episode features some of the biggest tunes from his current Pharmacy tour including two from 2Komplex and Kessler & Mazzar. Track of the month goes to Bamboo Forest's Bandwidth, plus there's new tunes by Soundfanatic & Su6tropic, Krama, Flowjob & Morton Granau, Ilai, James Dymond, Hypnoise & Ital, Rishi, Sonic Species plus remixes by Wikidz, Nemo, Activa and Outsiders.

This months guest mix is from South Africa's Lostly (Andre Frauenstein) aka 'Audio Militia' who started DJing at 13. He quickly moved on to DJ at top events and festivals around the world including Love Parade, Nature One, Decibel, Color Festival, and has also been busy supporting and headlining successful shows and tours with acts such as Simon Patterson, Cosmic Gate, Emma Hewitt, Markus Schulz, John O' Callaghan, John Askew, The Thrillseekers, Activa etc. His endless dedication & passion having paid off, Lostly is now known as one of the leading electronic DJ/Producers in South Africa, with his music being supported by the biggest performing artists around the globe, such as Armin Van Buuren on A State Of Trance. With chart topping releases featured on labels such as Discover Records, Armada, Black Hole Rec, Mental Asylum, Kearnage, Outburst, Adjusted Music, Borderline Music as well as compilation albums such as the infamous Technoclub series, Ministry Of Sound’s Trance Nation. He has also completed several collaborations and remixes for Aly & Fila, The Thrillseekers, Indecent Noise, Signum and more. In the very same year Lostly was approached by his home label Discover Records to become the head of A&R taking over from industry giants Activa and John Askew. The Human Element represents a meeting of the minds of two brilliant, passionate producers with a love of underground trance. 

The Human Element is a beast of a track with its pounding kick and bass but what really sets it apart are the huge melodies that lift and propel it. This months episode is two hours of back to back Pharmacy power with Christopher Lawrence and a guest mix from Magnus. In the first hour, Christopher Lawrence delivers some banging tunes from his set at Pacha NYC last weekend including Neos - Spartan Attack on Pharmacy Plus which is Track of the Month, plus there's new releases from Pharmacy's HAS! and Beamrider. There's also new tracks from Astral Projection, Nitrodrop, Simon Patterson, Base Trap, Tortured Brain, Killerwatts, M-Theory vs Sonic Species, Mekkanikka and remixes from Digicult, Maitika, Outsiders and Spinal Fusion. Into the second hour, fresh off the back of his chart topping remix for Jonathan Allyn's Lightwave on Pharmacy, Seattle based trance/psytrance producer Magnus. He was one of the first artists ever signed to Pharmacy Music and has often been referred to as a crossover artist, combining the elements of both trance and psytrance, creating a unique, signature sound for which he has become known for. Magnus's tracks been played on A State of Trance, Future Sound of Egypt, Rush Hour, Global Trance Grooves, and many more. In 2009, Magnus won the Sean Tyas Melbourne remix competition with his Michael Lee remix. In 2011, his first album Signal Strength was released on JOOF. That same year, Magnus began working with Perfecto, releasing a Magnus Dub remix of I'm Alive by Paul Oakenfold and Infected Mushroom, as well as his original track, Velvet. More recently, Magnus has begun working on collabs with Activa, Thomas Datt, John Dopping, Shake, and Sinerider. His EP entitled Render One was released in May of 2014 on Perfecto Fluoro.

Mr. V is also known as Victor Font, and experiencing his magical DJ sets, original productions or remixes is like taking a trip back in time to dance music’s golden age. It is with this classic sense of spirit and enthusiasm that New York City’s Mr. V targets today’s dance music world as a throwback to a better time. Growing up in the 1980s the open-minded Mr V was heavily influenced by house, hip-hop, Latin, garage and disco classics, rhythm & blues and jazz. Mr V was enticed by the role a DJ commanded over a crowd and was taken by the talents of his friend Lord G., who had a weekly Thursday night party in New York City. Despite wanting to be a professional DJ, it wasn’t until he met the legendary Louie Vega that he found his calling.

He is now a part of ‘Digital Om Production’, one of the most successful labels in the genre of Psychedelic Trance. Triptone is gradually experimenting with mixing various genres of music into his preferred playing style to create rhythms & sounds that are more authentically his.

PROTONICA - FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION
As modern architects envisioned, the structure of an object should primarily be based upon its intended function. Therefore, Piet Kaempfer and Ralf Dietze, aka Protonica, the architects of this creation, decided that each brick, each curve and angle should be built with a lot of thought, love and devotion. Every piece of sound you will hear vibrating through your ear canals has been specially designed from scratch, and was tested under the highest levels of professionals. Thus, Form Follows Function is not like most albums which gets produced and released for the sake of being released, it is exactly the opposite intention – to deviate from the factory like music that surrounds us and craft a form that was thoroughly thought of before, while and after it was conceived.

Form Follows Function is divided into 9 different functions, which were modeled into 9 different forms that will suit its desired function. However, the function is flexible and dynamic, and enables each person that listens to the album to adjust his own prefixed functions and slide into a liquid amorphous ever changing entity. This album is the second masterpiece from Protonica, which comes 5 years after their debut album Search, which was released in 2007. Now it seems that the search for their own style is finished, and the time to dive deep and explore the next stages of their sound has come.

After 5 years of refining and crystalizing their sound, they preserved their old Acid influences, while combining new elements of Progressive and Psychedelic Trance. Dietze and Kaempfer followed the function of their name - Protonica - which means positive charge, and always had the dance floor in mind in order to tell hypnotizing stories which will enchant every person. The guys have collaborated with other superb artists such as Liquid Soul, aka Nicola Capobianco, on the track Floating Point, and another exquisite joint venture where they marked their point of view on Ace Ventura, aka Yoni Oshrat, and Rocky's, aka Roy Tilbor, track Serotonin Overdose.
