Phil's Frogs (1B)

American robins gather over the course of a few hours for one day between Xmas and the first week of the new year at our homesite in Glen Ellen, California. They're drawn there in huge numbers (thousands) to eat the ripe and fermented toyon berries. Then they stagger around the driveway til the sober up and fly away until the next gathering.

A recording of Common Cuckoo. Habitat - conifer forest that was felled about 10 years ago and has been left unmanaged, by an upland river in North Wales. Equipment used - Sennheiser MKH 30-40 - Fostex FR2LE. Editing - decoded, some EQ applied. Other species on recording: Crow, Meadow Pipit, Willow Warbler, Sedge Warbler - Sheep!

These are Moloch Gibbons with their young in Borneo.
The silvery gibbon (Hylobates moloch)  ranks among the most threatened primates. It is listed as Endangered on the 2009 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
The gibbons and the orangutan are fast declining in Borneo, Man is destroying their habitat and planting palms for the harvesting of palm oil. Palm oil is found in many products now including buttery spreads, granola bars and the like. Please be aware of the products you buy that have palm oil in the ingredients, By choosing this product you are contributing to the demise of habitat and the very existence of these amazing animals.

Recorded in Kenya, this early evening chorus of frogs, Cicada, crickets and slate-coloured boubous, they are a delight to listen to. Kenya has long been a destination to see the animals of Africa but for a recordist, It is a dream to just sit back with headphones and take in the magic of Kenya.
