Spirit Ventures IX: Earth & Sky

While this year's Burn was a relentless and unforgiving one, as expected, there were a few divine moments of truth worthy of bearing the Soulestial standards for serendipitous spontaneity that we always seek to find. One of the greatest experiences for us this year, was in the almost instant integration of our new friend from across the pond, Greg Pidcock, into our collective family. The man is a workhorse, a comedian, a gentleman, and an artist - all helically wrapped up into one well packaged gem of a human being. 

If we had known Greg prior to arrival, he would've already been on our big Wednesday night lineup. But instead, thankfully, like the Burn often does, it gifted us a circumstance where he could play with the crew on another day. Shamiran graciously gifted her time slot at the Soulestial Takeover of the Bubble Lounge to Greg and magic was instantly made! 

With the end of the dragon tail in sight already on Saturday afternoon, it was a playa blessing to descend upon our friends' camp with Greg in tow. His booty-shaking housified set united two camps worth of people and served as a beacon for passers-by mid-dust storm to join the perfectly planned chaos within the Bubble Lounge tent. Thank you Greg! We can't wait to do it again, brother!

I had the honor of closing down Tribe Equinox's first night club night at Monkey Loft. The crowd was FEELING it and this was by far one of the most fun and electric experiences I have had DJing thus far. Lots of energy in this set, I hope you enjoy it!

It's 6 pm​ and the sun is low in the sky. The sea breeze is blowing through the open windows of the Mobli Beach House and Deep Jesus is leading us into the golden hour. The dance floor fills as his set begins, first slow and distant, then quickly building and couldn't be more close. You can feel the base deep in your chest and it's nearly impossible not to smile as the smell of the ocean fills the room. ​You close your eyes as the set continues, you've found that moment of Peace in Noise. 

This 2 hour and 38 minute set is from our second Peace in Noise Summer Series Party. We hosted Deep Jesus and had planned for him to play a full 4 hours, but then the cops came and refused to let us continue. For this we apologize, we had such an incredible time with you all, and we are so grateful that you joined us. We'll see you all soon...

Imagine a tree of 25,000 LED leaves breaking up the otherwise dark, desolate desert. This is The Tree of Ténéré, an awe inspiring 30-foot tall interactive art installation made for Burning Man 2017, and one of the event's most ambitious projects ever. Lying beneath it, you find yourself looking up at the largest interactive "light canvas" in the world, enveloped in colors, shapes, and patterns that move to music through the surreal canopy above you.

Thursday night of Bruning Man 2017 Airpusher teamed up with two other art cars, Mystopia's reverse Cowgirl Creamery and Hot Sauce, to party with the tree. I really wanted to see the tree perform so I started my set deep, choosing minimal tracks with very distinct elements, then built through some bass heavy stuff into full out, big, melodic burners to close out the hour!

I was so honored to be included and, unsurprisingly, this turned out to be one of my most memorable sets of my 14 Burns. Come, relive the journey with me and imagine the 25,000 LED light canvas moving magically with the music!

Das Leben für einige Tage auf Stand-by setzen und die surrealistischen Vorstellungen des „Seins“ aus dem Unterbewusstsein befreien, ist für viele Festivalbesucher das Non plus ultra der Freizeitgestaltung. Der Realität entfliehen und mit Gleichgesinnten alternative Lebensmodelle erproben. Umgeben von Individualisten, die zu einer Gemeinschaft verschmelzen, begibt sich der eigene Geist auf eine Reise die einfach befreit.

Ein Ort, an dem dieser Traum noch Wirklichkeit wird, ist der Pyramide Lake in Nevada. Hier treffen sich alljährlich enthusiastische Pilger, um ihre eigene bewohnbare Utopie zu schaffen. Alles was benötigt wird zum überleben, muss selbst organisiert werden und die Glücksgefühle der Megaparty entstehen durch persönlichen Minimalismus. Mitmenschen werden zu Helfern und ebnen durch liebenswerte Gesten den Eintritt in eine unvergleichliche Parallelwelt. Diese Erlebnisse werden sich jedem Besucher in die Seele einbrennen und werden ihn sein leben lang begleiten. 

Unser heutiger Gast hat so ein Brandmahl in seiner Seele und war schon mehrmals Act auf dem Burning Man. Mit seinen ruhigen und verträumten Sets hilft er seinen Zuhörern zu entschleunigen und sich ein wenig Ferienkommunismus in den Alltag zu holen. Atmosphäre und Ambiente gehören zu seinen Stärken. Damit schafft Mark es die Menschen  abzuholen und temporär zu befreien.

Citrus Age spins up sets of dusty deep house and melodic techno that connect the personal to the ethereal, and the wild to the tender.

As a lifelong musician in pursuit of exceptional vibrations, Citrus was initially drawn to dance music by the heady and sparkling sounds emanating from the art cars of Black Rock City. Citrus Age began DJing in 2019 and quickly became a resident for Seattle deep house collective Reflect, playing parties throughout the Pacific Northwest. Always one to hold a vision, he led the Reflect collective into their current form as a crew changing the shape of deep, melodic music in the Pacific Northwest through their open air parties, micro festivals and club nights that feature bespoke line-ups of local and international talent.

Citrus Age's selections integrate compelling, steady rhythms, intricate and sublime melodies, and a definite sensuality. These sensibilities, held within the context of the party, make for sets that raise the vibration on the dance floor and invite everyone to turn on, tune in and come together.
