Clarisse’s 57th variety comes from the Costa del Sol and has sea air and Spanish sun splashed all over it. Novodisc Sanchez has been spinning for the best part of two decades, his grooves locating labels such as Vendetta, Spinnin’ Records and Sanity Limited. This year he has remixed Cruzado’s ‘Night at Moon’ as part of an EP bigged up by Claude Von Stroke, Joseph Capriati and Marco Carola, and within fifteen minutes here, he’ll have you reaching for the holiday brochure.

Definitely not one for subliminal messages or abstract ways to get you moving, ‘Check It Out’ crowd surfs on a bubble of hot to trot bass and deals in DJ shout outs with its shirt off. Moving you out of his mid evening Mardi Gras with drink in hand, Novodisc telling you to not touch that dial is pepped up by the occasional plink of rave chords, and a breakdown eyeing up the velvet rope treatment of pool parties and club terraces. Deep and funky house keen to assemble a throbbing throng of clubbers - you can’t get more simpler and more effective, and more Clarisse than that.

Stuffed with the funk of a pluckin’ good bassline that’ll knock your flip flops off, ‘Da House’ declares it truly unreasonable to be staying indoors once the sun his the sky. Spring heeled beats feel low end heat, and another sprinkling of chords darting in and out encourages bodies to become intertwined until the swapping of sweat starts occurring. If you can’t take the hint, never mind the heat, Novodisc becomes his own hype man and takes it back with unashamed shout outs on the hook.

David Mendo can’t stop and won’t stop right now; after hoarding plaudits with his remix of Luca Lento’s ‘Poema’ and going nose to nose with Charles Ramirez for ‘No More’, he now locks horns with Madridista and Ibiza insider Danny Serrano for a pair of portly summer rumbles. Clarisse’s next pleasure principle and guarantee of perspiration is not the first time these two have got together either. 2008’s ‘Coconuts’ picked the lock on the pair’s future path of unremitting, tribally entwined, pump-the-bump grooves that have gone on to time sunrises and sunsets, from 2010’s gibbering funker ‘Yanara’, to ‘Poupea’ ushering in waves to lap at its feet in the same year, and the popping tech jabs of Clarisse release ‘Sugar on the Body’.

Toughened up by the kind of drivingly incessant bassline that sorts dancefloor athletes from weekend drivers, ‘The Bassement’ is a one-way ticket of tribalism pulling no punches, deep house weaponry with slow-burning fire in its belly. Though it’ll undoubtedly benefit from a bronzing come holiday season, you’ll be praying that the party heads South so that the cellar-as-steamroom is the place to be once needle meets wax.

The bottom end to ‘Truesoul’ may have more bounce and give more glass-clinking breathing space. But there’s no let up and no room for tip-toers and toe-tappers, as Serrano and Mendo have taken on the form of the most stylish of dungeon masters. As a criss-cross of vocal interventions from the player’s ball next door goad you into retaliation, it’s a second statement of staying power and modesty made much bigger; the bass remains something you’d baulk at down a dark alley, telling diet and diluted deep house to take a look at itself.

It’s been business as usual for Clarisse in 2015 and then some, expanding its takeover of the world’s live stage and seeing its output unanimously lauded by the scene’s leading spinners and charters. Halfway into the year, Switzerland’s house label on high springs a welcome surprise for its 48th release in the form of its first compilation, continuing Clarisse’s relentless search across the globe to secure the finest in deep, tech and tribal house.

The collection of nine upfront tracks bolsters Clarisse’s stockpile of roost-ruling grooves, and brings a new team to the front of its roster that this year has been run and remixed by DJ Sneak, DJ Dep, Simone Liberali, Mendo & Yvan Genkins and Metodi Hristov. The collection’s first pit stop sees Greek trailblazer Mihalis Safras set the tone in exemplary tribal fashion with ‘Desire’, a low sweep of the big room attacked by high-end synth fire and held together by a loop of billowing vocals.

With an aggression reminiscent of The Son’s classic thumper ‘Jumpin & Pumpin’, I Hate You argues ‘Whatsapp is a New Mistake’. It’s a foolproof bump and hustle pinned down by a seesaw of funky bass that’ll send social media into meltdown and snap selfie sticks in two.

South American duo Kintar and Santiago Garcia pay total tribal attention, packed with a primal, tumbledown bassline that adds a few extra pounds to the already heavy ‘Ameewo’, allowing it to tighten its grip on the Argentinean skyline. Romania’s Horatio & Gruia circulate and radiate with sun and sea on their mind: of Mediterranean twangs and warm exploratory flourishes, ‘Altfel de Sentiment’ is the theme to a remote clubbing cove only the elite know about.

Over in Italy, Drastic Duo lay down the snippy deep houser ‘Never Seen Before’. Superheroes Luca Grossi and Berto Riccardo are caught smuggling funk out of sight while an informant tries to explain the situation, speaking out over a busy bass-pinned shuffle. Another meeting between Nicola Calbi and Luky brings ‘Pleine de Surprise’ and adds another chapter of bumpy funk and bassily buffed-up essentials. Its springy, breakbeat vibe of push coming to shove is bound to be reflected by clubbers bouncing off one another’s shoulders.

The compilation’s strong UK contingent features PAX men Aaron Taylor and Charlie Robinson. Slipstreaming in the fast lane, their dropping of ‘Acido’ is a robotic jerk that plugs into a vast, big room, tech silhouetted sound and synchs a breakdown to heighten the track’s urgency. LowLife twosome Danny Allen and Scott McKechnie announce they’re ‘Freakin It’, coming out swinging with neon-fractured tech house full of disco toms and dashing stabs: a muscular dancefloor main event.

One time Sankeys resident Rudosa, aka Mark Bradbury, gets the carnival float cruising. The diva-guided ‘If You Want’, a tribal samba destined to cut through tailbacks and heatwaves, is dedicated to the all-in-together party experience, summing up the meeting of Clarisse’s first no-nonsense nonet.

Put up the bunting and bring out the birthday cake, Clarisse has hit 50 and is marking the occasion in true style with an unflinching piece of hearty tribal house that the label has nailed to its mast time after time. Leading the labels half-century celebrations is Dario D'Attis, the Italian also known as The Funk Ensemble who has repped Switzerlands Purple Tracks/Purple Music, as well as A-grade labels Hive and Nervous in a career on wax that stretches back before the Millennium.

Here with one of Clarisses leading vibe stylists in Yvan Genkins, who has done much to help Clarisse tot up its milestone, Afro Call chugs like a non-stop cross-country train with an infinite tank of gas, full of thirsty clubbers ready for fiesta. Full of pots and pans percussion taking it to the streets, the duo provide an authentic open air feel bound to create one long human traffic jam, its pistons greased with the vocal echoes of classic chanters such as the Gypsymens Babarabatiri.

Secondcity is Rowan Harrington, who comes to the party with Chicago in his blood, an Ibizan residency at Sankeys Tribal Sessions to his name, and already knowing a thing or two about the Clarisse brand from remixing label boss Mendo's Magic this year. Not to mention a rework of Carl Cox, collaborating with chart-topper Route94 and the small matter of his goodtime piano groover I Wanna Feel blowing away 2014.

His remix of Afro Call manages to be both deep and flexible, making splashes with a bassline both flowing and muddy. Fast-paced yet always in control as if hes skimming through a foam party, he carries over the originals eyes-on-the-prize vibe and turns the pattering of skins throughout into a bubbly lather, roaring into a finale that ups the Samba-tinted shimmying in a jiffy.

Partial Press Release: The 42nd release on microCastle welcomes Chicola and Sahar Z to the label for their debut EP. The Israeli duo have long been at the core of Tel Aviv's electronic music scene. Sahar Z is now approaching 20 years as one of the country's most recognized artists. Part owner and resident at Tel Aviv's famed 'The Cat & Dog' club, Sahar continually plays alongside some of the world's best talent such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Mathew Jonson and Patrice Baumel. While his productions for Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat continue to make him one of the most unique and cutting edge artists in the underground.

Similarly Chicola began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing artists.

The studio synergy between Chicola and Sahar is constant and while an abundance of material is locked away (primarily for live gigs), it's only on rare occasions that you see a collaborative release from the duo. Previous EP's for Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music are all that sits in the duos collective discography. Now as 2016 begins we see a long awaited third project, their debut EP for microCastle entitled 'It Happened One Night'.

Like much of the music coming from the core of Tel Aviv's electronic culture, the lead track here 'It Is What It Is' has been the subject of much mystery. After appearing in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur all throughout the Fall season it's been one of the most talked about, and sought after tracks in the underground. It's tough grooves and techno minded sensibilities are geared directly towards a large room or festival environment. Perhaps not a typical production for Chicola and Sahar, who are generally thought of as purveyors of deeper more emotional music, but here the duo have created the ultimate peak time record, culminating in a rush of delayed snares for an all out sensory assault and ultimate dance floor moment. In the words of Chicola and Sahar "Techno snares meets Moog.  We made this groove and the original version was 18 minutes long, then we started to play around with the snares, and a cafe break brought the idea of those endless delays of snares. The arp on top is pure Moog with all its love. A simple, clean record and a dance floor killer."

Next up on the gold standard tech house imprint that is Roush, comes label boss himself, Hector Couto. On the Parental Advisory EP, the influential Spaniard has readied four cuts of to-the-point club music that cannot fail to make its mark.
Hector is one of the most respected artists around with a truly global allure for his brand of house music. He has released on labels such as Defected, Moon Harbour, Hot Creations and Get Physical and is no stranger to the finest DJ booths in the world, from Ministry of Sound to Amnesia Ibiza. As such any new music from him warrants deserved excitement.
Proving that once more is excellent opener ‘Like This,’ a wobbly tech house tune that is full of electronic funk. It has great vocals, swollen bass and siren like synths that really get under your skin and demand you dance. Title track ‘Parental Advisory’ is a real party starter with wild vocals and jittery drums. Off kilter synth stabs and fat bass all make it a hugely fun and characterful tune that is sure to stand out in any set.
Moving on to the essential ‘Old Roots’, this one comes laden with retro breakbeats and a dusty sense of groove. Air horns and crisp hi hats all get stitched into the loopy groove and pull you deeper and deeper in with each rotation. Lastly, ‘Bubble Gum’ comes with a snaking bassline that is tough and rugged. Classic 909 pops and clicks pepper the groove, as do plenty of sweet vocal samples and the result is one hell of a tech tune that sounds like little else.
This is another masterclass in effective, emotive dance music and it marks another fine release for both label and artist.

Making bodies crunch and lunge, plenty of rap riffin’ spices up the party further with old skool hip-house in mind covering both the block and beach house, and there’s never gonna be anything wrong with a breakdown that winds up and sounds off an air-raid siren before starting all over.

Lowering the weight of the kick drum takes the cunning funkiness of ‘Spined’ to a temple of tribal house. With Wade showing he’s very much for letting the tempo and tempo alone do all the talking, ‘Spined’ would be a dancefloor dominator spoken of with hushed reverence were it not spluttered over by a massive rave hoover and ringing synths going heavy on the panic button. A quicker-stepping marching band you couldn’t wish for, with Wade’s orchestrating a left-right-left sequence like a big bad wolf that’ll quickly have you throwing off winter hats and gloves.

With an added touch of disco, its a big ball of sunny fun to have you hopping around.

The Big Bang fires a bassline that can be heard all over town; thats all the science this track needs, and all the invitation required to cause a dancefloor hold up. Raised in an atmosphere bursting with passion for music, LOUISAHHH!!! (born Louisa Pillot) started singing and playing instruments at an early age before discovering a passion for DJing. Starting at age 17, sneaking into New York City clubs with fake IDs, LOUISAHHH!!! (a name chosen 'as a war cry or a shriek of delight') has since honed a style that is hard but deep, tough but tender.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2006, LOUISAHHH!!! became half of house-centric production duo NYCPARTYINFO, releasing records with Throne of Blood, Nurvous and Young Adults. However, it wasn't until friend Danny Daze requested some vocals for his group Senor Stereo that LOUISAHHH!!!'s talents as a singer began to shine, gaining more notoriety as modern classic 'Your Everything' climbed the deep house charts.

Amidst this whirlwind of excitement, a fateful meeting of French techno wonderkind, Brodinski spiraled into a fast friendship and eventual collaboration for Brodinski's young label, Bromance Records. With 'Let the Beat Control Your Body' and 'Nobody Rules the Streets' becoming peak-time anthems, and explosive vocal collaborations in the realms of both deep house and new techno, LOUISAHHH!!! was getting ready to release her own productions into the world.

Mendo originally started the album in 2010 with tracks like «Aventuras», «Madrugada» and «Inocencia», but due to the fact that someone uploaded a dj set including «Aventuras», it got ripped and published on Internet before the official release. This is why «Encantos EP» was released including «Aventuras» and «Madrugada» and the plan of the album changed completely.
 
After the big success of “Encantos EP”, Mendo received many remix requests what made him postpone the release of the album a little.
 
In 2012 he left his native country, Switzerland, and moved to Malaga (Spain). He built a new recording studio and re-started the album with 14 completely new tracks.
 
Finally, in 2013, Avalon is ready to be released on his own label: Clarisse Records.

With endurance-testing tribal house and funk-flicking clubbing making you feel comfortable, it‟s as if Mendo is towelling down the throbbing perspiration he‟s causing you, putting boogie in your body with sprinklings of disco glitter („Fever‟) and driving, deep and funky house deliverance that has made his sound cross-continental - and this is before you find the title on maps from Australia to Canada, France to the United States.
 
There‟s always a party going on somewhere in the world if you think he may have missed out on peak Ibiza season - Mendo could just as well have the Miami Winter Music Conference in his sights (the home of the Heat being something of a spiritual home) while staying golden until the next Spanish reign rolls around - so the perennial producer‟s platters shouldn‟t be waiting long for their next passport stamp, the head of the Clarisse label leading from the front as he continues to reap A-list blessings, having given his gift of groove to dance music academies as prestigious as Cadenza, Rekids, Saved, Get Physical and Defected.
 
Close to 100 minutes long and having marinated since 2010 – overzealous internet users spoiled the album‟s progress first time around - you shouldn‟t expect anything resembling a flash in the pan from The Club Science and Cadenza connect who‟s had releases evacuate racks since the turn of the Millennium. Therefore it‟s a given that he should ease into his 2013 long player with the expectant opener „Mintro‟, chanting as a ritual for ravers to register for. Carried over into the global flavouring that dusts the Carla Krevey-shaped „Abstract‟, a reflection of Mendo‟s own cosmopolitan background takes deep house from Spanish backstreets to a nerve-fraying theatre of shady glances and unspoken mystique.
 
Removing himself from the early tenterhooks he places the album upon, the road to „Avalon‟ starts to both wind and unwind, kissed with an exotic air („Clavelito‟) earning recompense from the motif of dance music as international language, even if the harder nosed „Everybody Love‟ wants the funk all for itself. From beach hut to ballroom, „Rising Sun‟ won‟t be an Ibiza staple just by coincidence of name alone, proving piano remains king as it gets you moving a little closer to a blue skied cloud nine along with the similarly self-explanatory „Samba‟. 

Then, „Waterborne‟, making you walk a crystal-edged tightrope between breath-catching and breath-taking, sees Mendo expanding the album‟s outlook into something more panoramic, extended markedly further on the surefooted spacewalk „Interlude‟ and the follow-up beam-up of the title track, a moment where the sweaty, buoyant masses join moist palms as they see the light in unison, swaying side to side to zero (gravity) in on the album‟s continuing theme of inclusion.
 
„Amazon‟ and „Libellule‟, closing the album by tilting chairs back and just stopping short of placing cucumber slices over your eyes, are part of an interjecting support group for when you‟re done dribbling out of every pore. “You will be surprised to discover this album has half of its tracks in a down tempo style, that people aren't used to hearing from me”, Mendo admits; but while they almost give LP‟s flow a reality check, the expansive sweep over arenas and into the nooks of backrooms makes cohesively appreciable sense. Where you imagine him lining up his famed four deck set-up like the most meticulous of domino rallies, the gaps are measured out so methodical motions link easily into unrelenting circuits that are cause for sprinkler systems to go off, or for punters to turn a pool party into a riptide.
 
A chain reaction of bass-pushed loops and Iberian ivories, Mediterranean mastery and NYC nous, is only part of the equation. “The key to a successful party is to get girls dancing. Once they dance, everybody does.” Certainly there‟s no room here for honeys whose hips can‟t hula, but „Avalon‟ should have no problem reaching out to hip-bone hustlers as the likes of the infectiously incessant „La Krika‟ and „Les Clochers de Belarus‟ get sand between your toes while telling daybreak to wait. He finishes with a declaration reassuring in its stating of the obvious: “I just want people to have a good time with my music.”

With no better place to show off their style than the White Isle, the summer of 2023 saw Mendo fine-tune all of the label’s heaviest hitters, and then apply the magic touch to labels such as Hot Creations, Hottrax, Jamie Jones’ Paradise imprint, and The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin’ Headz stable. Artists now know exactly where to go for all their mixdown and mastering needs, trusting in Mendo’s do’s and don’ts to give their beats that extra something for when summer season shouts full steam ahead. 

With the Clarisse DJs roster guaranteeing a roadblock every time they come to town, Clarisse Nights have already made steps en route to a worldwide takeover, capturing hotspots across Ibiza, London and Croatia. And there’s more to come, with Mendo having signed a partnership with HireOut bookings to further develop the Clarisse Nights experience. Promising nothing but the best in design, booking and promotion, and with new spaces in Spain, Switzerland and Latin America on the horizon, Clarisse continues to prove why it’s been a house and club success story for over 20 years.
