Following the first EP of his new CONTEMPLATION project, Arno E. Mathieu delivers here a real Mediterranean French boogie tune. Dedicated to the landscape of his hometown in Provence, the track has been thought as a walk in the hills, but with a typical and local gypsy funky twist that brings a true balearic mood. 

After the bass line, latin guitar and funky drums opening, chords and melodies come quickly to introduce all the fresh vocal modulations of the Marseille native singer, Zula. Her performance sounds like she is showing us a small path in the hills, taking our hand for a walk under the sun of summer, and whispering us the warmest words about almond trees and thyme bushes parfums.

Mark E takes the most electronic side of the original for a dope deep and hypnotic reinterpretation, evolving in sobriety with super elegant strings over driving drum and guitar gimmicks, keeping the essence of the original but with a housey touch.  

For the second remix, Arno wanted to ask his old friends, the duo Next Evidence, to team-up once again, 20 years after their timeless and classic album «Thrills», to revisit «Colline»…

It is maybe the best feeling Arno had about a comeback of Next Evidence, as the result is an ultra energic funky jam, full of great music references, but with a real personal touch, delivering a dope dancefloor killer for funk and disco addicts.

Il y a deux ans presque jour par jour, dans le silence assourdissant d'un confinement planétaire, disparaissait un artiste central dans l'histoire de la musique en France. Daniel Bevillacqua alias Christophe attirait tant par la force de ses tubes de la première époque dont les paroles étaient signées Jean-Michel Jarre, que pour ses aventures soniques guidées par son goût du son et des synthétiseurs. Le collectif parisien Deviant Disco co-fondé par Eva Peel vient de sortir "Christophe de jour comme de nuit", une compilation de reprises où l'on croise des gens qu'on connait très bien : Romain Turzi, 
Étienne Jaumet, Charles-Baptiste, Lisa Li Lund, The Man Inside Corinne ou Alex Rossi qui chacun livre sa vision du regretté dandy.

Eddy Ramich is a familiar name to anyone with more than a passing interest in modern, soulful European electronic music. The Croatian DJ and producer has become a mainstay of the forward thinking and eclectic scene for the past three decades. From his pioneering Kontrapunkt events in Zagreb, to his much loved collaborations with Dus and Yannah, Eddy has always been at the forefront of the movement.

And it’s once again a collaboration that brings Ramich, now based in Berlin, to his hometown label Sonar Kollektiv this summer - this time hooking up with Viennese producer Roman Rauch. This highly respected beat maker and DJ, despite hailing from Austria’s green valleys, channels the raw, deep soul of Detroit and Chicago in his sublime musical productions, and here it’s no different.

The pair’s unique partnership for Sonar Kollektiv is completed with the enlisting of our very own Pete Josef on vocal duties. The blue-eyed soul singer from Bristol has been an integral part of the label since releasing his debut long-player, Colours, in 2015 as well as subsequent remixes and the follow up album, I Rise With The Birds, five years later.

On Dayglow, Pete’s smooth and sultry tones add rich textures to Eddy and Roman’s steadfast four-to-the-floor beats, and a vocal hook that’ll stay with you for some time to come. Bright synths follow its lead and crisp percussion adds a lightness of touch to counterbalance the foot friendly bottom end and make this a future club and beach banger!

On remix duties is none other than Japanese DJ, producer and folk hero - and another regular collaborator of Eddy’s - Shuya Okino. The man behind Kyoto Jazz Massive, and legendary music venue The Room, adds a generous dose of jazz-funk to the proceedings with some serious live bass, tender keys and more restrained drums that’ll make his version a favourite for fans of acts like STR4TA, Incognito and Freeeze.

Exclusive: EVENN - Trip After The Club

Spanish House label MATE returns with its 11th outing which comes from Argentinian artist DFRA, who will also have an EP on British House label Hudd Traxx shortly, and EVENN, who's had releases on RAWAX, HOUSEWAX or Happiness Therapy for instance. So consequently the split EP follows the label's philosophy of releasing quality House music with a deeper note and partly soulful as well as piano influences. However, DFRA musically mostly focusses on the before mentioned deeper sides of House music, while EVENN explores the more organic side of it, meaning he plays around with organs and the piano and adds some soulful vocals over them to create memorable tracks that probably even artists like Terrence Parker would play. The A2, a Trip After The Club, is no exception and picks up on the previously mentioned. The track starts with a two minute demonstration of harmonies as the chords play and vocals are added to remind us of the best times of Chicago House. The latter is further emphasized by the jazzy and partly funky note the track captures as Trip After The Club then is enriched with a warm bass line, which perfectly goes with the vocal's message of "shake your body" - because that's all you want to do when listening to the track.
