Ben Davis (Flash Atkins) and Tom Lonsborough (2 Billion Beats) return once more with some heavy futuristic, deep afro vibes. They asked themselves what the music would sound like in the fictional 'Wakanda Life' nightclub of Black Panther's home country then decided to write it.

Ashe Rising is the life force that runs through all things and the EP's first track offers a spiritual late night awakening. Rolling bass, skittering drums and chanting samples make way for a pad to raise souls. Heavy reverb and delayed EFX keep it weird as the track twists and turns into a hypnotic afro chug. 

Downtown Birnin Zana is the capital city and where the action happens. Heavy broken and house beats lock together with a live slap bass as the percussion rolls with synths and arps. A haunting vocal sample takes it weird but the energy builds into the late night as the Panther, White Gorilla, Lion and Crocodile Cults leave their differences at the door to get sweaty.

Following the first EP of his new CONTEMPLATION project, Arno E. Mathieu delivers here a real Mediterranean French boogie tune. Dedicated to the landscape of his hometown in Provence, the track has been thought as a walk in the hills, but with a typical and local gypsy funky twist that brings a true balearic mood. 

After the bass line, latin guitar and funky drums opening, chords and melodies come quickly to introduce all the fresh vocal modulations of the Marseille native singer, Zula. Her performance sounds like she is showing us a small path in the hills, taking our hand for a walk under the sun of summer, and whispering us the warmest words about almond trees and thyme bushes parfums.

Mark E takes the most electronic side of the original for a dope deep and hypnotic reinterpretation, evolving in sobriety with super elegant strings over driving drum and guitar gimmicks, keeping the essence of the original but with a housey touch.  

For the second remix, Arno wanted to ask his old friends, the duo Next Evidence, to team-up once again, 20 years after their timeless and classic album «Thrills», to revisit «Colline»…

It is maybe the best feeling Arno had about a comeback of Next Evidence, as the result is an ultra energic funky jam, full of great music references, but with a real personal touch, delivering a dope dancefloor killer for funk and disco addicts.

It is exactly 10 Years ago since YOSA’s last EP on Dirt Crew Recordings and we are so delighted to welcome him back on the label! We have always had a deep connection with Japan, doing lots of events and visiting regularly. YOSA has always been one of our friends on the forefront of the Tokyo scene. YOSA has had a little break from dance music for the past six years, concentrating more on Pop and Indie music.

In his own words: “I believe this Rainbow EP is worthy for my comeback after 6 years of rest. When I heard the original vocal sample during the pandemic, I almost cried and immediately composed "Rainbow". Then I decided to go back to this house music scene where I used to be. I can see people dancing, laughing, crying with joy, and celebrating a reunion on the grass, under the rainbow with this track.”

Rainbow is a pumping and uplifting deep groover of a track and as YOSA already mentioned a perfect fit for any Summer outdoor dancing event. The second track “Thermae” has a more Disco-fied feel and an irresistible bass line. On the remixes we have a fairly new producer from Japan called “mok”, these two mixes are his first official outings, but he already has produced a big collection of tracks. YOSA says “He is such a genius, and I'm glad to be able to introduce his talent to the world.” Both mixes are chilled, relaxed and dubbed-out journeys with a delicate indie twist. It is our great honor to share with you the next expression by Hunt & Gather label founder and House music raconteur Pezzner. In his latest tale Pezzner, ever the eclecticist and vanguard, transcribes grandiose orchestral expression, Broadway vocal jazz, exalted post-disco, and Balearic tones into a format that we can all gather and dance to.

This is 'Sunrising' and it comes accompanied by two reinterpretations: a propellant electric disco romp by label partner Doza, and a sterling but jovial expression by Deep House legend (and our dear friend) Fred Everything. This release is capped off by Pezzner's playful and flowing reperformance of Herb Alpert's dancefloor classic 'Rise'.  The artwork was created by Robbie Busch, DC Comics writer and penciler.
