THE RELIC is man of many identities.
Cubic Nomad, Dark Earth, E-MP-Hasis, Ecister, Hidden Rooms, I-mpact, Maui Pentocosto, Nightshade, The 7th Sign, Zanthrax... to name a few.

Maurice Pinkster started producing slow hardcore in the 90s. He was making slowcore before it was called downtempo. As mentioned earlier, he is a man of many faces; techno, dark electronic, dirty acidlines... Anything raw and energetic: you name it, he produces or spins it!

In this recording, we take you back to the night before Ascension.
The Relic was destroying the dancefloor to the max, Loophole, De Helling, Utrecht, was on fire!

33 track all vinyl mix of classic oldschool Schranz/Hardtechno from the mid 2000's. Includes some of the classics in the genre that regularly appeared on Boris S, Matt M. Maddox, Robert Natus etc mix CD's and the various compilation series from that era. Was into the first waves/generation of Schranz that more closely aligned with "standard" hard techno/techno rather than later years when it became more "hardcorized" with increasing bpm's and a lot of labels went digital. A few Dutch tunes from The Hague used from DJ unfriendly white coloured vinyl (Protocast) with those artists being more well known for their output in another style that's close to my heart and as far as my listening habits go are still vastly underplayed.

Mixes are all vinyl only. Setup is a pair of turntables and basic no frills mixer... archaic certainly but I like to keep things simple.

Been into Hardcore Techno/Gabber since '97 after getting a DJ Producer Dreamscape 23 tape and Bass Generator Hardcore Heaven Ravers Choice. Same year found a Thunderdome 1 -5 Megamix CD and discovered the Mokum series which is where my love for harder music began.

A few years later after listening to all the usual suspects found on any Technodrome lineup and events like Deathrow Techno, North etc, I started buying the tunes. Always favoured the acid laced Clarkee sets and Trance infused Dolphin ones but love all of them including "the Mu... the Mu... the Music Maker" for more 'outthere' Industrial/Speedcore stuff. Still have the same passion and level of enjoyment digging for tunes especially unsolved ID's and forgotten/hidden gems.

Subsequent years leaning towards Hard Acid & Acidcore for the more insanity inducing extreme 303's and generally darker atmosphere from the likes of Lasse Steen, Somatic Responses, Zekt, Agro, Drop Bass Network, Direct Drive, Labworks and the swamp-like-grungy acid on Cologne's DJ.Ungle Fever.
A soft spot for Mark EG, M-Zone & Vortex Hard Trance. Also the UK mish-mash Acid Trance/Hard-Nrg/Hard House sound... VCF, Choci's Chewns, Bosca Beats, Public House, Eve/Telica etc, Acid Techno - tend to stick to the 90's stuff I grew up with and Classic Trancecore - so a bit of everything really.

Much greater appreciation now for Techno/Trance & Acid spun by the likes of Aggressor, Warlock, Aztek, Colin Faver, Colin Dale, Mach 1, Trevor Rockcliffe, Daz Saund and Ribbz of course. I enjoy listening to these sets a lot more now that I'm older than I did the first time around and it opens up a whole new world of tunes to hunt down.
