Camila Villegas joins for DifferentSound Podcast #055.

DJ and producer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Camila has a unique style influenced by Darkwave, Synthwave, Rave, Electro, Acid and EBM. She’s mystic and experimental; she understands music in a way that the non-stop dancing becomes a must when listening to her, reflected both in her sets and in the music she creates. She finds in music her most pure and unlimited expression, where she doesn’t like to be labelled nor categorized; her essence is her art. She’s mainly driven by a profound philosophy of Hedonismus, in which she finds herself sharing pleasure through music and dancing; that’s why in 2020 her AKA Tinkerhell was born.

At the young age, Camila has already some powerful releases, among which there are: An Insect Is Talking in "The Resistance V/A" of Suburban Avenue, sharing it with strong artists such as Mattia Trani, Zadig, Under Black Helmet, Sept among others; her second release Boulevardier in "Shaded V/A" of Aesir Records, together with Personha, Toni Dextor and others; Plus others releases and a EP forthcoming.

28 track all vinyl mix of mostly UK flavoured Hardcore Techno/Gabber from 97-98 with less than a handful of tunes either side of those years. There's a few obvious and instantly recognizable Technodrome classics as played (or rather caned) by the usual suspects with one record/track in particular being somewhat of a  Scorpio favourite and is of course what inspired the title of the mix... never seen a black version! Some tunes have received the 45 treatment in keeping with the UK style of that period but kept to a minimum.

29 track all vinyl mix of mostly Dutch Gabber/Hardcore with a brief UK abduction (as you might guess from the pic). The majority of records are 1996 releases with a dozen or so either side and the oldest tracks Chosen from '93. Bit of a trancey infused appetizer to start with followed by some tunes on the bouncier side of things before getting into the main dish. Tried to stay away as much as possible from any of the bona fide Technodrome anthems (still sneaked in a few classics) in favour of the more underplayed tunes which no doubt any tape pack trainspotters will pick out straight away.

33 track all vinyl mix of classic oldschool Schranz/Hardtechno from the mid 2000's. Includes some of the classics in the genre that regularly appeared on Boris S, Matt M. Maddox, Robert Natus etc mix CD's and the various compilation series from that era. Was into the first waves/generation of Schranz that more closely aligned with "standard" hard techno/techno rather than later years when it became more "hardcorerized" with increasing bpm's and a lot of the labels went digital. A few Dutch tunes from The Hague used from DJ unfriendly white coloured vinyl (Protocast) with those artists being more well known for their output in another style that's close to my heart and as far as my listening habits go are still vastly underplayed.

41 track all vinyl mix of Early Terror/Terror, mostly 90's and the rest released just the other side of the 2000's. Starting at the more "standard" hardcore speed and building up to a Speedcore finish. A few classics scattered throughout amongst some more (perhaps) underplayed tunes like those from the UK/Dutch "angry face" NSA connection for example. Image and title should give a pretty good indication of what to expect and is of course inspired by one of the tracks.

Mixes are all vinyl only. Setup is a pair of turntables and basic no frills mixer... archaic certainly but I like to keep things simple.

Been into Hardcore Techno/Gabber since '97 after getting a DJ Producer Dreamscape 23 tape and Bass Generator Hardcore Heaven Ravers Choice. Same year found a Thunderdome 1 -5 Megamix CD and discovered the Mokum series which is where my love for harder music began.

A few years later after listening to all the usual suspects found on any Technodrome lineup and events like Deathrow Techno, North etc, I started buying the tunes. Always favoured the acid laced Clarkee sets and Trance infused Dolphin ones but love all of them including "the Mu... the Mu... the Music Maker" for more 'outthere' Industrial/Speedcore stuff. Still have the same passion and level of enjoyment digging for tunes especially unsolved ID's and forgotten/hidden gems.

Subsequent years leaning towards Hard Acid & Acidcore for the more insanity inducing extreme 303's and generally darker atmosphere from the likes of Lasse Steen, Somatic Responses, Zekt, Agro, Drop Bass Network, Direct Drive, Labworks and the swamp-like-grungy acid on Cologne's DJ.Ungle Fever.
A soft spot for Mark EG, M-Zone & Vortex Hard Trance. Also the UK mish-mash Acid Trance/Hard-Nrg/Hard House sound... VCF, Choci's Chewns, Bosca Beats, Public House, Eve/Telica etc, Acid Techno - tend to stick to the 90's stuff I grew up with and Classic Trancecore - so a bit of everything really.

Much greater appreciation now for Techno/Trance & Acid spun by the likes of Aggressor, Warlock, Aztek, Colin Faver, Colin Dale, Mach 1, Trevor Rockcliffe, Daz Saund and Ribbz of course. I enjoy listening to these sets a lot more now that I'm older than I did the first time around and it opens up a whole new world of tunes to hunt down.
