DJ and producer Cormac invites DJs and musicians, friends and allies from the LGBTQ+ community to talk about music, queerness and anything else that shaped their unique story.

In each episode, Cormac's guest selects music that evokes crucial moments, from childhood, through sexual awakenings and first clubbing experiences, right up to current tracks they love.

Through sharing our stories, struggles and soundtracks of our lives, we hope to learn and grow and focus on our similarities rather than our differences. After all, we’re in this together.

A two hour excursion into a unique sound crafted over 15 years of mixing. Included is the debut of "Heartcore", Cormacs first solo release on his label Polari. The track is an homage to the HI-NRG sound of the early 80's.

I first met fka in a club Garten. Their remarkable energy caught my attention. Little did I know, this encounter would lead to us playing a series of b2b sets together in just a few years.

fka.m4a is undeniably a fast riser in the new generation of DJ stars. And rightly so. Beyond their talent, they have also become a dear friend , radiating warmth and joy wherever they are.

@kimannfoxman is undoubtedly an epitome of queer cool. Aside from being a prominent queer DJ, she grew up in Hawaii, was an early enthusiast of hip hop, and played a crucial role as a founding member of the queer super collective  @herculesandloveaffair!
Despite her remarkable achievements, she remains one of the most humble and charming personalities in the queer scene. I absolutely loved our conversation.

For episode 93 of our Feel My Bicep podcast series, we’re stoked to welcome Cormac, who recently played with us at our FMB event in Belfast & has become a regular guest at Panorama Bar since leaving the WYS! Sunday night parties at fabric. We caught up with him to find out what he’s up to at the minute and a bit about the mix…

Recently I’ve taken a step back from production and am concentrating on DJ gigs, I’m really enjoying it.

I’m on holiday in Mexico for a few weeks, so I recorded much of my record bag back to WAV before coming here. I’ve arranged things in Ableton mostly which isn’t my usual way to record. Usually, I record at home on my decks. 

Track selection is first and foremost, I have to share what I’m excited by. How they are arranged is a close second. as I recorded in Ableton I was a bit concerned that things become too linear sounding, too clean.. so some mixes, arrangement are quite dynamic. listening back, the selection I guess is a bit of a nod to electro, and personally, i can’t go in that direction without some connection to something Italo sounding, so that vibe is there also.

Up next…

Travelling around Mexico for another week and then back to gigs. already looking forward to Blitz Club in Munich , Disco Zwei in Mannheim, Ankali in Prague and then back to Panorama Bar in April .

Cormac, once a hidden gem in the world of dance music, has quickly gained widespread recognition as a respected selector. Hailing from Northern Ireland, this queer DJ is now making waves on dancefloors worldwide with his unique blend of HI-NRG, Italo-House, and Techno.

He became a fixture in London's iconic nightlife scene, gracing the floors of renowned clubs like Trade, Nag Nag Nag, and Bugged Out! 

 His DJ sets have been featured at major events such as Sonar Festival, PollarWeisen, Circoloco, Robert Johnson, WHOLE Festival, Homobloc and Adonis .

In Berlin and across Europe, Cormac is celebrated for his epic closing sets at Panorama Bar and Snax, sometimes lasting up to eleven hours. With free rein to explore diverse sounds, he has become a fixture in the club's lineup, keeping the crowd grooving until the early hours of Monday morning with his extensive 20 years of DJ expertise.

Cormac has held a monthly residency on Rinse fm since 2020.

In 2021, he launched his own label, Polari Records, named after the old-school gay slang once used in Europe. The label highlights both new and established producers, with each release featuring collectible artwork from LGBTQ+ artists.

In May 2024 the first Polar Records event was held at Panorama Bar.

Cormac's BBC Radio 1 Essential mix featured exclusive unreleased tracks from Polari alongside his debut solo release on Polari, the beloved anthem "Heartcore". As one half of "Comets", he released music on the esteemed Berlin label Ostgut-Ton. His track "Sparks", paying homage to Cowley and Bobby O, dropped in 2022 on Polari Records. In 2023, he debuted on Running Back Records and released "Leather ’n Lasers" on Polari Records.

Cormac's Resident Advisor Mix was released in May 2023.

Cormacs Queerly Beloved podcast launched on 9th January with Romy from the xx and Andy Butler aka Hercules & Love Affair. Season 1 also featured Peaches, fka.m4a, Fat Tony, Josh Caffe, Lakuti, Kim Ann Foxmann and Planningtorock. The podcast was already one of the top 10 music podcasts in the UK with only two episodes released.

Cormac is an insightful and sensitive interviewer, warm and welcoming, able to put his guests at ease navigating sensitive topics with humour. He has a degree in psychology, and has made his intention to be a good queer elder, capturing the stories and histories of artists for the benefit of everyone. Sharing his journey from growing up in Northern Ireland during the troubles, his years as a club kid in London, to his 16 years of sobriety and work as a queer health advocate.
