Our No. 222 today comes from an artist who has been accompanying me musically more or less continuously for about 2 years. To overhear him is basically pretty really hard. Not only because of his high output and commitment, but especially because of the high quality that can be found in all his mixes. So is the case with ours.

We are talking about kośa who also runs the well-known label Kosa which preferably stands for experimental downtempo that can be classified somewhere between world music and slow deep house. As a solo artist Tarun is very successful on the road. Among other things, he has played at the well-known Berlin club Kater Blau several times.

His recorded mix begins like an ode to the Bronx of the 80s when hip hop played with oriental music elements. As the tape progresses, it becomes deeper and more driving, without losing its slow character. In the process, he reveals a wide range of subgenres...Towards the end, Tarun returns to the starting point, skillfully closing the circle. In his set, he provides equal amounts of release and tension. A perfect formula for an easy-going, danceable afterhour. Fasten your seatbelts...

Unsere Nr. 222 kommt heute von einem Künstler, der mich seit ungefähr 2 Jahren mehr oder weniger ununterbrochen musikalisch begleitet. Ihn zu überhören ist im Grund ziemlich wirklich schwer. Nicht nur auf Grund seines hohen Outputs und Engagement, sondern vor allem wegen der hohen Qualität, die sich in all seinen Mixen wiederfindet. So auch bei unserem. 

Die Rede ist von kośa der zudem das bekannte Label Kosa betreibt welches vorzugsweise für experimentellen Downtempo steht, der sich irgendwo zwischen Worldmusic und slowen Deep House einordnen lässt. Als Solokünstler ist Tarun überaus erfolgreich unterwegs. So bespielete er unter anderem den bekannten Berliner Club Kater Blau bereits mehrere Male.

Sein eingespielter Mix beginnt wie eine Ode an die Bronx der 80er als der Hip Hop mit orientalischen Musikelementen spielte. Im weiteren Verlauf wird das Tape immer deeper und treibender, ohne seinen slowen Charakter zur verlieren. Dabei offenbart er eine große Bandbreite von Untergenren…Gegen Ende kehrt Tarun wieder zum  Ausgangspunkt zurück und schließt somit gekonnt den Kreis. The rāga saga is a series that acts as a cultural collectiva of our favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this special journey (raga) comes from the lovely duo of @pullichomba Electronic music Producers based between Santiago de Chile and Berlin. When Pulli & Chomba met barefoot on the most famous beach of Berlin's Club scene in 2017, it was immediately clear, that their love for electronic music unites them. The fusion of German and Chilean sounds brought them on the tingling path to their own productions. Mostly organic and from time to time also a bit more intense and darker, they put your hearts to dance - preferably under a soap bubble rain.

 She crafted for us one of the super slow rides she enjoys to create in her "home-cave". The keyword for this journys is "LadyLuck".

One of her personal mottos is: 

« don’t be no fool ! don't hold on the things that hurt you most! » 


She thinks that human beings are used to hold on to their pains more than anything else, yet those chains are nothing but chains; and chains have to be broken.

• What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I dont "come" from a musical background, in my child hood music wasn't a very present aspect in my life and now it is what I dedicate my moments to. Sound is what interests me, the daily life sound, the sounds that hold invitations to deepen your moments, the sounds that make my inner and outer world move with curiosity, sounds for the deep listener. 

Opening Traktor for the first time in 2019 when in hospital with help from a dear beloved, I was made aware on such a deep level the ability of healing which comes from outworldy expresion through sound. From that point on the rabbit hole of wonder continues.

 

• What makes good "afterhour"?

A good afterhour for me are the moments of deep surrender, filled with Gratitude for the present. Being surrounded by and experiencing it with loving beings in softness, cheekiness and love. Lets pour some tea and listen to some melting ambient together, or lay in the sun listening to the wind in the trees, lets laugh and celebrate eachother. 

 • Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I had the impulse to play the same track at the start and at the end, to hold the journey with the message of Love. This for me, is what I wish to convey in all my musical journeys. 

 
• What was your experience of the set you recorded?

Beate Uwe is one of my beloved home bases, so playing here is always a heart expansion. Watching the bodies flowing and moving on all different levels was and is such a joy, I was in awe at the beauty of it all. It is such an honour to play for you and to share this experience together. The last track moment has imprinted on me, an invitation into stillness it was beautiful to witness the embraces of self and others.
