Last week we saw the ferocious love of Jesus, as he pronounced woes on those who would use religion to keep us from finding hope in him. In this passage Jesus turns to his disciples and strengthens us to remain faithful in a world hostile to faith by warning us of the pitfalls of hypocrisy, fear of man and unbelief all the while providing promises for His kids with each warning given. Did you know that there are two ways to be lost but only one way to be found? In the parable of the Prodigal Son, it's actually both the younger brother and the older brother who are lost. One is lost to rebellion and one to self-righteousness, but both are equally lost. Doing all of the right things for the wrong reasons is equally as damning as living as a profligate.
