COLORS OF SUMMER

Although my Short Tales album is out, I still keep making these trio acoustic guitar pieces. This one I initiated just after the release and finished just now after rearranging and adding segments. It explores different Latin inspired rhythms, the time signature could either be 95 bpm or double that depending on the section. 
In my mind these sounds here recall summer moods and feelings, some uplifting, some more melancholic.

Colors of Summer | Dan van den Berg - a Short Tale ...

This is an instrumental that I wrote on ukulele.  It emerged from noodling up and down the ukulele and I imagine the ballerina on a music box which I had when I was a child turning to this.  The image is a painting I did from a photo of my mother holding me.

Well we have been working on this little number for a while!  
I sent a rough, very basic track to Finn last summer, just some chords really.  @finn_eces weaved his magic, wrote the lyrics, and a song within a song, and sent back this amazing folk-rock opera.  
We spent some time, shooting it back and forth, grappling with it's size, but we finally realised it needed to get bigger or go home.  So we turned to @dairv-dubbleyew and he helped rev it up all the way to 11!!

Чувствуя глубину мириад планет фибрами,сам себя ограничил и опустошил. То наполнялось,что в конце оставила кратер на своем,некогда,теплом месте.
Все более погружаясь в эскапизм,отсекая мир реальный,отторгал все то,что будет ценно после. Слепо чувствуя истинное и искреннее в том, что подобным поделиться не могло.
Присущее  свойство оказалось радикальным присвоением,что было высечено путем самообмана и нелепого оправдания.

Feeling depth of myriad planets by fibers, me restricted myself and devastated. filling up, what left behind a crater in ,once, warm place.
More and more diving in escapism, cutting off real life, rejected all that, what will be valuable after . Blindly feeling true and sincere in that, what couldn't share the same.
Inherent feature turned out radical appropriation, what was carved by self-deception and ridiculous excuse way.

This site is for my musical avatar or alter ego. Architect/partner/company owner by day, I find myself playing guitar and writing these tracks in afterhours, at nights, evenings, when in need of a dose of guitar sounds. You will find a wide range of guitar oriented music, ranging from Jazz to Blues, Flamenco to Classical, Rock to Fusion. And many collaborations with some great musicians.

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old, largely self-taught and have tried different styles and instruments: Renaissance lute, flamenco guitar, classical guitar, steel string guitar and electric guitar with which I have been playing in styles ranging from rock and metal in my early years to classical music, some American Folk music, jazz rock, prog rock, flamenco nuevo and fusion.

It’s been a splendid time here so far, in collaborating with a lot of brilliant musicians on SoundCloud and sharing ideas and the passion for music. 
My collaborations are with musicians that I have a deep respect for and have a mutual appreciation for real instruments, and musical styles that focus on letting the instruments “shine”.

Currently I am using Amplitube and Auria on an iPad as DAW with Final Touch for mastering. For acoustic recording I use an Apogee microphone.
