A friend of mine, martial arts expert, used to tell me that in a real fight, the jumping one is exposed to an high risk of overbalance. For a prepared opponent is enough to take a step back, wait for the landing and punch the jumper right in the face. I never tried anyway. The track is beautiful, how could i miss it?

Burning it Up With SoundCloud Friends

I wanted to exploit the sound of one of my favourite folk instruments. The hurdy-gurdy is not heard so very often in the UK. What could be better than to use a medieval instrument for a leading-edge space opera like my essay into "The Vanished Birds"?

Several SoundClouders have remarked on the hurdy-gurdy. My own passion for it started in the 1990s when I found myself in a Breton village on the day of their hurdy-gurdy festival. We marched up and down through that village behind a band of 30 or 40 hurdy-gurdy players, with the odd Breton bagpiper and bombarde-player chipping in, as the mood took them. Somewhere, I still have my field recordings of the day. The tunes were simple and very catchy.

Home Has The Brightest Stars

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with.  Tom has the solos with a more treble sound, and Justin boosts his midrange and bass.  Check out their SoundCloud pages if you are not familiar.  They are bad ass, just like this tune. What fun pulling this together with three serious musicians.  You probably know Joe Bongiovanni and Justin Valente's awesome blues oriented guitars, and they stretch out here on this funk / soul / fusion groove.  Burning it up they are.  And joining us on Alto Sax is recording artist Matt Criscuolo.  Look for him at mattcriscuolo.com.  These guys just play their ass off here.  Started with an internet fusion loop, I added many keyboard lines to funk it up to the max, and we added these pros.  Joe takes the opening solos for the first four minutes, Justin follows, and we finish with all the guys trading off.  So much energy.  Positive energy here.  Put this on and relax. From the late 60s on Miles always had one or two super serious fusion guitar players on stage with him - John McLaughlin, Pete Cosey, Mike Stern, Barry Finnerty, John Scofield, Robin Ford and Foley. Gotta love the open invitation from Scotland's finest SC guitarist, fuzzmaster and executive chef Ian Tait https://soundcloud.com/ian-tait to join him on this heavy funk rocker.  Ian's signature funky sound and outstanding Wah playing were just what the doctor ordered for me, so I jumped in with some heavy synth guitar patch to try and match Ian's electricity on my keyboard.  On this track I take the first and third solos.  Damn this was fun Ian!!!  You are back with a vengeance.

Please enjoy my latest offering to you all. It is another seagoing inspired track. Over the years I have seen many deep ocean whales in their natural setting but only once have I seen a pod and it was awesome. There must of been at least twenty of them spread across the bow at distance. I immediately reported my sightings to the captain who immediately stopped engines.  He went on to explain that in this situation you have two choices you can go hard to starboard or port depending on our postion relative to the whales course or simply stop the engines and take in the view explaining the chances of seeing another pod this large is very remote. this all happened long before smartphones came along so we had no way of recording the event. This took place when I was nineteen and I am now 71 and it is a memory that has stayed with me all these years. So I say to all our fantastic young people .... You are at the stage in your life were you are creating your memories .... .don't waste a minute. Thank you all for the great support you give me.... love and peace..

'In The Citadel Of The MInd' is an exploration really of the imagination...the creative mind, or in my case, "In The Citadel Of The MInd". Utilising mixed genres, as the mind has many portals and avenues to wander down and through..

This wild and slightly cinematic track listens like a soundtrack to a seventies Kung Fu infused action packed movie scene with wild synths and out of control guitars being carried by exiting funk drums and a racing bass line and monster riffs. 
To kick off this action packed scene I have asked Jamie Rhind https://soundcloud.com/jamie-rhind to play his multi faceted synth and Rhodes sounds and boy did he deliver the goods! I had the luxury of choosing a wide variety of sound settings Jamie had prepared and I chose to feature all of them in his solo: Blends of Rhodes/Unity Synth/Analog Poly Synth/Picked bass/Mysterious Synth Lead.
After that a guitar solo starts that weaves together diminished modes to slightly jazz infused progressions and chromatic lines. 
I have used an old track that I recorded years ago and for the occasion I have added an intro and outro section with strings and violins to create a bit more suspense.

We had fun and sincerely hope you'll enjoy this one too! 

A fun detail:
A jumping evasive sidekick is an outrageously high jump kick to the side as a surprise effect to the opponent since it is set up from an evasive move. I learned this move in the gym and it just fits the feel and mood of the track.

This site is for my musical avatar or alter ego. Architect/partner/company owner by day, I find myself playing guitar and writing these tracks in afterhours, at nights, evenings, when in need of a dose of guitar sounds. You will find a wide range of guitar oriented music, ranging from Jazz to Blues, Flamenco to Classical, Rock to Fusion. And many collaborations with some great musicians.

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old, largely self-taught and have tried different styles and instruments: Renaissance lute, flamenco guitar, classical guitar, steel string guitar and electric guitar with which I have been playing in styles ranging from rock and metal in my early years to classical music, some American Folk music, jazz rock, prog rock, flamenco nuevo and fusion.

It’s been a splendid time here so far, in collaborating with a lot of brilliant musicians on SoundCloud and sharing ideas and the passion for music. 
My collaborations are with musicians that I have a deep respect for and have a mutual appreciation for real instruments, and musical styles that focus on letting the instruments “shine”.
