Known for previous releases on labels like Local Talk, Fifty Fathoms and Sound of Speed Records, Frederick aka Edinburgh’s Pete Oakden releases a timeless EP via Lazy Days Recordings, including remixes by 6th Borough Project and All Is Well.

It inspired him to create his stunning debut long player Disruptive Pattern Material released in March 2014 on his label Fifty Fathoms Deep which he co-runs with Craig Smith. More recently Peter has been writing, co-producing and remixing with Craig Smith, The Revenge, Jullian Gomes and Fred Everything.

Frederick’s music has a deep and introspective side while keeping an eye on the dance floor with tougher drums and deep bass. The title track, Take My Hand, take us to church with the gospel vocal samples of a well known and loved singer. Craig Smith & Graeme “The Revenge” Clark aka 6th Borough Project bring back the raw on their Remix, with a stripped down interpretation for peak time usage. 

This is the last release of 2019. Thanks to everyone who supported us. We’ll be back in 2020 for #15yearsoflazydays.

'Dutch duo T.U.R.F. bring the heat to Exploited again after contributing the super-hot 'Sneaky Ways' last year. Their knack for a tasty groove is very much intact, with two surefire disco house slammers on this release.

'Good Times Roll' builds a foundation of chunky beats around some sweet jazz-funk vibes, with dashes of sax and clavinet interpersing the piledriver bassline. Jaunty pianos loop tensely and quickfire white noise builds and cymbal echoes keep things energetic. When it comes to high energy, organically-textured house music, these guys really know what they're doing. 

'Street Talkin' is a deep and jacking groove built around small disco loops that filter in and out of the foreground, with super-skippy beats cutting against the deep textures of the melodic elements. Looped vocals and infectious fills and to the grooves bumping feel, and a soulful breakdown blasts into an extra-funked-up section full of incessant horn and electric piano flavour. 

With other contributions on Tensnake's True Romance label and Till Von Sein's Tilly Jam, T.U.R.F. are rapidly carving out a name for themselves as ones to watch. Don't sleep on these bombs...'

Phonk D lands on Exploited with a takeover of their Black Jukebox series. Serving up 4 killer dancefloor cuts, he’s got the weapons you need for the months ahead. 
The supremely funky ‘Work Dance’ makes great use of dramatic horn blasts as off-beat bass pumps and stomps all over the place. Twanging guitars licks accentuate the groove further. Chunky drum fills punctuate the rhythms and tumbling congas keep things rolling as vocal cuts command you to ‘dance!’ 
Head directly to ‘Facelift’ for some glorious strings, cascading romantically over snappy ‘90s house vibe beats. Undulating bass perfectly complements these cute motifs, making for a track that falls somewhere between ‘sorrowful’ and ‘triumphant’ on the mood board. Throw in some glistening harp scales and you’ve got yourself a winner. 
‘Never Walked Away’ is a tense stomper that focuses around a filtering soul vocal loop with some sustained strings cooked into it. The shuffling beats and relentless bass are supporting by detuned piano chords, increasing the hypnotically looping feel. 
‘Get Ready’ teases with more warped piano before unleashing a loose funk b-line and dubby vocal snippets. Sweet guitar licks weave around the slinky bassline, this understated track making a deep and balmy finale for this great EP.
