As the co-founder of Studio 89, @teak_music parties, and Cardiff-staple
@paradisegardencdf, David is a prolific guy, to say the least. If that wasn’t
enough, he’s also been producing a steady stream of late 80’s Belgium-nodding
releases, like the excellent “Body & Beat” on @dka_records and his most recent,
“The Energy EP,” on Dummy Hand. Recorded live at Paradise Garden, DJB’s
mix bridges these elements of the darker motifs while always infusing a balance
of the old and present day that he does so well in his own releases. Thrilled to
have him on and for taking the time to do this mix.

Over the past decade Rising Sun has firmly established himself as a purveyor of the finest deep, dubby and cinematic leaning house and techno, consistently delivering a sound that is distinctly his through labels such as Fauxpas, Freund Der Familie and his own numerous imprints Reality Used To Be A Friend Of Mine, Kristofferson Kristofferson and Beautiful Things Don't Ask For Attention under a variant of guises such as The Ambientist, Rising Sun Project, Rising Sun Psyche, Rising Sun Melancholia and simply
Rising Sun under which he returns here for Echocord.
As one has come to expect from a Rising Sun release ‘The Eternal’ has a firm foundation in emotive melodies and atmospherics across six alternate versions. ‘Eternal 1’ leads with muted drums, fluttering stabs and a preaching spoken word vocal. ‘Eternal 2’ edges into darked realms, merging expansive dub echoes with swelling subs and tension building strings before ‘Eternal 3’ dives head first into ethereal hypnotism via unfurling textures, soft stab sequences and a rounded kick.
‘Eternal 4’ opens the B-side with a subtly unfolding construction as vocals, chords and swinging drums run in unison. ‘Eternal 5’ then strips things back to a gritty statured feel with boomy percussion,
enchanting strings and nuanced stabs before ‘Eternal 6’ rounds out the release laying down murky, multilayered pads, widely dispersing reverberations and bubbling delays throughout.

Anatolian Weapons, the alias of Aggelos Baltas, stands at the forefront of Greek electronic music. The release 'Beyond' is intentionally crafted for the dancefloor, featuring a collection of obscure techno tracks with a few unexpected twists.

Following the release of Aggelos Baltas’ long-awaited second album under the alias Anatolian Weapons last autumn, he is now back with a collection of obscure dancefloor cuts. In his characteristic manner, Baltas weaves hypnotic melodies with driving beats, transporting dancers beyond thought and rationality into a liminal space outside themselves.

and played an important key figure in the Tel Avivian music culture and art back in the days.

This record is a clash between past and present with a slight wink to the future and we are very honored to press it.

On the A side you can find a Red Axes Edit of Siam's Tel Aviv Downtown, this is a fast time machine journey which takes the dirt and the safety pins of Tel Aviv in the 80s and delivers it on a futuristic cut. 

"In the realm of" was and still is a club anthem over here since it was released in 1989, and was mostly identified with the legendary "Penguin Club" (a crazy basement club which hosted all the best shows and parties during the 80s and 90s).

Algebra Suicide was a Chicago poetry-music duo consisting of poet and visual artist Lydia Tomkiw and musician Don Hedeker. They formed in 1982 and self-released a 4-song EP that year. It featured a 60's Vox Guitar Organ, a precursor to the synthesizer guitar, and a Multivox Rhythm Ace drum machine. In 1984 they released their 2nd EP ditching the guitar organ for a Casiotone MT-40. Their debut album ‘Big Skin’ was released in 1986 on cassette and featured 13 new compositions with more complex arrangements. A vinyl compilation album, "The Secret Like Crazy", was released in 1988. It collected 20 tracks picked from ‘Big Skin’  and the first two EPs plus unreleased songs. In 2012 we released an 18-track compilation of their first 3 singles with bonus tracks. 
“Still Life” is a 16 track compilation that collects the 9 remaining songs from ‘Big Skin’, 3 songs from ‘The Secret Like Crazy’, and 4 songs from various compilations. Lydia and Don call their approach "Avant Garage" citing inspiration from Patti Smith, Frank O'Hara, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed. Don plays guitar in a hauntingly stark style like Glenn Branca, Tom Verlaine, or Vini Reilly. He then adds
Casio keyboards and minimal electronic percussion, creating a moody, atmospheric backdrop for Lydia's poems. Lydia's words span a broad range of twisted real-life observations, and are delivered in a deadpan fashion with her distinct Midwestern accent. All songs have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP is housed in a jacket designed by Eloise Leigh and a 16-page booklet with lyrics, press clippings and photos. Though Lydia passed away in 2007, her genius lives on in these recordings. Please respect her decadence.
